Pictures from the July blog party

Many things were learned at this past Thursday's blog party like; Aaron Lazar of Rumanian Buck is still a rock star, Hailey Wojcik of Wojcik is a rock star, The Diamond Center is one of the best bands out there, The Nico Blues, Libel, Mishka and Max from Rumanian Buck are pretty major.

The July Whatever blog party was a huge success, many thanks to all the bands who played on Thursday, the staff at Bruar Falls and everyone who came out!

Roof Top Films

As passionate as I'am about music I sometimes find that covering it 24/7 can get a little on the boring side, so anytime I get a chance to cover an event that doesn't have anything to do with music I jump on it. The event I went to last night had something to do with indie rock but it pretty much was about another passion of mine film and it is called Roof Top Films and it's an underground film series that shows at various locations across the five boroughs of New York City.

Last night's Roof Top Film series showed on a rooftop of an old factory in my neighborhood in Brooklyn. And usually the Roof Top Films series chooses films based on a certain topic and the theme of the night is that topic. The topic and theme of last night's films was the planets, 12 filmmakers where chosen to make short films on each of the 12 planets and the result was very entertaining and interesting short films about about each planet viewed by us the audience underneath the stars which made the experience even more rad!

Oh and the indie rock part of the Roof Top films series is that before each movie they have a band play and last night The Billy Nayer Show, I came during the band's last song and I really wasn't paying very much attention during that last song due to trying to figure out how to put my new phone on vibrate, but what I heard was pretty good.

All of you New Yorkers or all of you who will be in New York  this summer need to make Roof Top films one of your summertime activities it's such a wonderful time! Check the Roof Top films website which is linked above to see the schedule, it's a fun and really different way to spend a Saturday night.
