Libel

Last night I went to see Libel at Union Hall in Brooklyn and last night's Libel show was one of the best shows I have seen this year. The band sounded so tight and so on point! 

 And a reminder Libel along side of The Diamond Center, Wojcik, The Nico Blues and Rumanian Buck play the Whatever blog July party on July 28th at Bruar Falls in Williamsburg Brooklyn.

Big Weekend..Big Shows...

This Saturday July 16th I will be pulling a double shift, I will be attending the Village Voice's 4Knots Festival at South Street Seaport in Manhattan in the afternoon and Rethink Pop Music's Walkabout Festival in Bushwick at Brooklyn Fireproof at night.

Oberhofer, Titus Andronicus, Davila 666, Eleanor Friedberger, The Black Angles (the ones from Austin TX & not Cheetah Chrome's band) and Mr. Dream all play 4Knots. Backwords, Grandchildren and The Headless Horsemen are on the bill for Saturday's Walkabout festival. I look forward to experiencing amazing live music and covering it all for you. And I hope that I get to meet some of you at either 4Knots or The Walkabout Festival.

Besides a big weekend the Whatever blog has two very big blog parties coming up. The first being on July 28th at Bruar Falls in Williamsburg to remind you the bill for that show is:

The doors at 6:45pm and the cover is ten dollars and this show is 21 and over. Bruar Falls is located at 245 Grand Street btw Driggs Ave and Robeling Streets in Williamsburg Brooklyn. You need to be there because this line up is so incredible and your never going to see it anywhere else!

A few blog posts back I hinted that I was in the midst of planning a big Sept party with one of my favorite bands headlining but couldn't say anything quite yet...well now I can. The line up for the Sept party or the 35 and Bitchin' party as it will be known is:

7:30pm: Backwords
8:15pm: Afuche
9pm: Little Band of Sailors
9:45pm: Sleepwalk (which is Kelly Irene & Julie's ex of the Art of Shooting new project)
10:30pm: Shark?
11:15pm: White Mystery

This all takes place on Sept 9th at the Rock Shop in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Doors are at 7pm and the cover at the door is ten dollars.

Alyson Greenfield

One of my very favorite performers and one of my favorite Brooklyn people Ms Alyson Greenfield is having a record release party on July 18th at the Mercury Lounge in Manhattan for her new record "Rock Out With Your Glockenspiel Out".

"Rock Out With Your Glockenspiel Out" is a rad little album of Alyson's versions of such 90's classics like Ace of Base's "All That She Wants" and Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise" you know the two songs that where played at every dance during your sophomore and junior years of high school!

 Alyson's version of Ace of Base's "All That She Wants" is a very sultry Fiona Applesque cautionary tale and she turns "Gangsta's Paradise" into a beautiful and dreamy song complete with toy glockenspiel . Other Jr High and High School dance classics Alyson covers on "Rock Out With Your Glockenspiel Out" include LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out", Kelis' "Milkshake" and "Bad Boys" the theme from the 90's TV show "Cops" all of which are brilliantly reborn through Alyson.

All of you New Yorkers or all of you who will be in New York next week MUST check out Alyson Greenfield at the Mercury Lounge on July 18th she is very entertaining and amazing live. "Rock Out With Your Glockenspiel Out" drops on July 19th and will be avaliable on iTunes on that date and it is so worth downloading!
