A Nico Blues kinda of Friday

It's a The Nico Blues  Friday. Below is the new video for the Nico Blues' song "Folk Song Number 2".

If you loyal readers remember I wrote a few months back about how every single one of you need to Netflix John Waters' classic 1974 film "Female Trouble". Well last night myself and one of my very dear friends went to go see "Female Trouble" on the big screen at Chelsea Clearview Cinemas in Manhattan and it was beyond brilliant to see such a legendary film on the big screen!

Here is one of the best scenes in "Female Trouble" it involves cha cha heels and a Christmas tree.

Grease for Peace and other things

This past weekend I was flipping tv channels and came across a recently filmed 1950's  doo woop concert on my local PBS station. The concert was hosted by Bowzer now for all of you who don't know who Bowzer was, he was in a band called Sha Na Na who had a variety show on  tv in the late 70's early 80's. Sha Na Na was a retro act who were supposed to be a 1950's Brooklyn greaser doo woop group, they covered songs from the 1950's and early 1960's. Sha Na Na's most famous gig was at Woodstock in 1969.

On Sha Na Na's variety show of the same name there were comedy skits and performances by everyone from Chubby Checker to the Ramones. Before the end of every show Bowzer would flex his arm like a strong man and open his mouth real wide and say "Goodnight and remember to Grease for Peace" and then Sha Na Na would sing "Goodnight Sweetheart Goodnight" by the Spaniels. Seeing Bowzer on tv the other night brought back the very vivid memory of a little boy in my pre school class (I was about 4 when "Sha Na Na" was on the air) who would make the teacher laugh by doing his Bowzer at the end of each episode of "Sha Na Na" impression.

Below is the clip of the Ramones playing "Rock and Roll High School" live on Sha Na Na, Bowzer is the dude at the start of the clip he's the host of "The Greasers Feud".

And this is the clip of Sha Na Na performing "At the Hop" at Woodstock.

And just cause they are playing Northside here is little Guided by Voices
