April show & Happy Record Store Day

The April blog party that I and the good folks at Paper Gardens Records co  presented at Bruar Falls this past Wednesday night was a big hit! Big thanks to; Alyson Greenfield, Wojcik, Infernal Devices, Golden Ages, Bryan and Heidi from Paper Gardens, TJ Olsen, the awesome staff at Bruar Falls, Shanda the edtrix of the Music Crush Girl blog and all who came out and took part in our raffle to benefit the Red Cross and their efforts in Japan. I'm pleased to say that the raffle was a success!

Miss Shanda took some great pictures of the evening that can be found here. And our Weds night show got a nice little shout out from the people over at Blaqbook.com and you can read that here. Stay tuned for details on the next Whatever blog party.

Today is Record Store Day, I hope you all got out and supported your local record store in honor of Record Store Day. I hightailed over to my local record shop Black Gold Records and picked up my all time favorite band The Who's "Quadrophenia" on vinyl. I'm excited to spend a rainy sunday listening to the story of Jimmy or Pete, Roger, John and Keith.

Phantom of the Paradise

I've talked about how "Phantom of the Paradise" is one of my favorite rock and roll 70's made under the influence of lots of chemicals films before in this blog. Well this past Saturday night I was lucky enough to see a screening of "Phantom of the Paradise" at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and it was so beyond rad to see "Phantom of the Paradise" on the big screen! And it was even cooler to hear William Finley who played the phantom and the producer of the film Ed Pressman talk about what it was like to film "Phantom of the Paradise" after the screening. Surprisingly William Finley told the crowd that the only chemical that "Phantom of the Paradise" was made under the influence of was medication to fight the flu cause everyone on set was sick with the flu!

Enjoy the trailer for "Phantom of the Paradise" and you need to either netflix or find a screening of "Phantom of the Paradise" cause it's so 70's rock and roll and so effing great & an awesome satire on the music industry... which after 30 some odd years still holds true!
