I was really sad to learn that Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees is suffering from liver cancer and reading that news got me thinking, a lot of people don't give the brothers Gibb their musicial due. Many people dismiss the Bee Gees are 70's disco monsters that had no musical substance. The brothers Gibb had tons of musical substance. Prior to the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack the Bee Gees wrote some really great pop songs that rivaled that of the Beatles and later era Beach Boys.
And take a listen once more to the band's "Saturday Night Fever" disco era music and you will find that it's really well written and well produced music and far better then the other "disco" music that was being made at the time.
