In an effort to impress the CMJ PR people I deleted two posts that expressed my thoughts on CMJ and SXSW. I shouldn't have done that and compromised my principals, I still think SXSW and CMJ suck and are one big industry schmooze fest with idiot industry people who are trying to out cool one another. To me a real music festival or conference or what have you should include music fans and that's what makes me really like Northside Fest.
My reason behind this blog are to bring you cool music and also speak my mind about all that's going on in the music industry whether it be good or bad. And you don't have to agree with me and my thoughts on certain topics in music and on certain bands or artists and that is the whole beauty of this blogging thing! I promise in going forward I will not delete any posts in order to obtain a pass to CMJ or SXSW!
And on another topic more holiday music! Sponge Bob's Christmas song "Don't Be A Jerk It's Christmas" always makes me smile every time I hear it. The message of this song is so awesome!

Things to get you in the mood for the holidays
It's about that time of the year again holiday time and here are a few things, besides the Whatever blog holiday party that happens on 12/21 at the Glasslands, to get you in the mood for the holidays.
One band that has emerged this year as one of my favorites is Deer Tick and Deer Tick has released a two song EP called "Holy Sh*t it's Christmas". "Holy Sh*t it's Christmas" is available on iTunes and it's also available on the band's label's website for free with purchase of any Deer Tick items. If you click here you can preview the two very Elvis/Tony Cliftonesque singles off "Holy Sh*t it's Christmas". I highly recommend downloading "Holy Sh*t it's Christmas", it will make your holiday parties very interesting, indie and lively and I also highly recommend checking out Deer Tick's non Christmas music cause it's soooo dang good!
Another favorite of mine from 2010 is Jonny Corndawg. I've written about his music in past blog entries and if you haven't checked out his brand of quirky, outlaw, country rock you need to do so! Besides being an amazing musician Corndawg is also a really talented leather craftsman. Click here and you'll see examples of Corndawg's bad ass and really cool leather work that you can order. Corndawg's leather works of art are perfect for the bad ass musician on your list.
And one Christmas song that gets me in the mood but also gets me a little faclempt at the same time is John Lennon's song "Happy Christmas (War is Over)". This song always reminds me of the true meaning of the season! I heard Celine Dion's version of this song the other day and I literally wanted to throw up it didn't quite have the same meaning as John's! There is nothing like the original so here it is!
