June's Whatever blog party is going to be soooo off the hook! Not only will there be heavy and awesome music provided by; Libel, Schocholautte, Infernal Devices, Wizardry and J.A.C.K. And as mentioned in the previous blog post there will be a raffle that night to benefit a really great cause the clean up of the BP oil spill in the Gulf area of the US.
I also mentioned some of the really awesome stuff up for grabs in this raffle included two passes to this year's Northside Festival donated by L Magazine and some very cool goodies donated by Wizardry. Well there is more ultra major stuff up for grabs in this raffle; Takka Takka, Neon Indian, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and These United States have graciously donated signed cds. And one of the coolest venues in South Brooklyn, The Bellhouse has donated two tickets to a show at the Bellhouse to the raffle.
Rachael Ray will be so jealous if you win any of this stuff! It only costs one dollar and it goes to a really great group who are working to help clean up one of the worst disasters in the US. And even if you don't win anything you can take solace in knowing that your one dollar is going to a great cause!
You must come to this show and then go to Northside!
And speaking of Northside if you win the two passes to Northside or if you've already gotten your badges to Northside, the official schedule is linked in the title link above. I was sooooo thrilled to learn that both Drink Up Buttercup and Bottle Up and Go have been added to the Northside Festival Schedule!

Helping out....
At June's Whatever blog party on 6/16, I'm going to be running a raffle to benefit a Brooklyn based group called My Two Dogs who are helping in the clean up of the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico area.
All you dog owning New Yorkers, can click on the title which will take you to My Two Dog's website were you can find out when you can go and get your dog groomed for free. All the fur that My Two Dogs collects at these events will be sent to a San Francisco based group who are currently in the Gulf aiding in the clean up of the oil spill called A Matter of Trust. The reason for sending the dog fur to the gulf to help in the clean up is, dog fur and human hair have absorbent properties to it. And dog fur and human hair stuffed into ladies panty hose act like one big safe sponge in the clean up of the oil.
All the money raised at the raffle on June 16th will go towards the transportation of the fur from Brooklyn to the Gulf of Mexico area.
And the stuff you can win includes; VIP passes to this year's Northside Festival, t-Shirts and cds from Wizardry and other hella rad indie rock stuff that everyone wants..Solange Knowles and Rachael Ray will be sooo jealous!
For all you non New Yorkers and people who can't be at the show and want to do your bit to help in the clean up, when you go to get your hair cut make sure you tell your hair dresser you want to donate your excess hair to the clean up effort. And when you get your pet groomed let your groomer know that you want to donate your pet's fur to the clean up effort. Most salons and pet groomers are well aware of groups to send the fur and hair too, if they are not let them know about A Matter of Trust their website is linked below.
