Being the fashionista I'am, one of my very favorite fashion models has always been Karen Elson. As I'm sure all of you know in the grand tradition of rock and roll Karen Elson married one of my very favorite musicians Jack White. And together they make one of my very favorite alt couples!
Anyhow Karen Elson has just released an album called "The Ghost Who Walks"... "Baby Woman" it ain't! The album is full of songs that incorporate folk, country, blues and indie pop in a beautiful way. Her sound if I had to compare, reminds me of a cross between Rickie Lee Jones, Patsy Cline, Tom Waits and Mazzy Star. Below is the video for the album's title song "The Ghost Who Walks". You must download "The Ghost Who Walks"!
Another group of artists that I think are hella rad is Wizardry, a metal band from Brooklyn. In blog posts past I have expressed my love for metal and Wizardry's sound is reminiscent of really good metal i.e. Dio, early Metallica and Black Sabbath. Below is Wizardry's video for their song "Under The Wizard's Sleeve" and incidentally Wizardry plays the June Whatever blog party on 6/16 at the Glasslands in Brooklyn.
If you click on the title of this post it will take you to Wizardry's myspace page.
