Rad poster, RIP Corey Haim and Frank Zappa

This ultra rad poster for the March blog party was designed by Michael P. from Schocholautte. Once again the March blog party goes down on 3/24 at the GlassLand Gallery. Small Mountain Path, Schocholautte, TAB the band, North Highlands and deVries all play and it's $7 at the door and the show is 21 and over! SXSW is totally overrated..Whatever blog parties are so were it's at!

In really sad news, 80's teen idol Corey Haim passed away this morning in California from a supposed drug overdose he was 38. Being a child of the 80's and like most children of the 80's the two Corey's were my world when I was about ten! I just loved "License to Drive" and "The Lost Boys", I watched those films over and over again! I still love "The Lost Boys", I watch it every time it comes on TV. "Lost Boys" is a great scary movie that withstands the test of time, with awesome performances by Diane Wiest, Jason Patric, Kiefer Southerland and Corey Haim. It's Corey Haim's best performance in my opinion. You've got to Netflix "Lost Boys"!

RIP Corey Haim..you meant so much to children of the 80's such as myself!

One last thing for today. As of late I've been on such a Zappa kick and having some downtime yesterday and doing a Zappa search on You Tube I found this clip. It's Frank being interviewed sometime in the mid 80's and he talks about the decline of the music industry at that time. And the spooky thing about this clip is what Frank says can so be applied to the music industry and yes the indie rock industry some 25 years later. I'm with Frank bring back the cigar chomping execs...if we brought them back I think we'd have less of this "too cool for school" attitude that can make the music scene/industry (especially in indie music) such an unappealing one. Also as Zappa said music would be so much more interesting. Plus the cigar chomping execs would make it so music festivals in the US so much better, it would be less about industry ass kissing and more about the people!

Nicole Atkins...

Dear Nicole Atkins,

I totally missed judged you, I owe you an apology! I just watched you at the Who tribute from last week at Carnage Hall. You did "The Song is Over" just right! You in my book you are totally worthy to share that stage with Mose Allison and sing Pete Townshend's lyrics! Vanessa Carlton and that band on the other hand...hhehehehe okay I'll keep quiet!

Anyhow I really sat and listened to your work and was very impressed, your amazing! Since you live out in Brooklyn, I hope that you'll come out to one of the Whatever blog parties at the GlassLand Gallery and hang out or play if you want. The Whatever blog parties are a really smart good time and I know you'll a fun time if you came to one!

xxoo,
A
