The Acorn, Basia Bulat and Gold Lake

Last night I was treated to an evening of really great music at a really nice new music venue here in Brooklyn (in my neighborhood to be exact) called Littlefield. Last's night's show at Littlefield was the Gold Lake, Basia Bulat and The Acorn show and what an amazing show it was!

Brooklyn band Gold Lake was the first band to play and I really found myself enjoying their brand of sweet mellow alt rock. Front woman and bass player Lua Rios' voice reminded me very much of Harriet Wheeler from the 80/90's Brit band The Sundays, Ms. Rios' also had very sweet but yet very edgy rock stage presence to her. Gold Lake's songs were well played and well written.

Next to play was Canadian Basia Bulat, the second Basia Bulat stepped on stage she just owned it! Her powerful but beautiful pipes had the audience right in the palm of her hand. Ms. Bulat's stunning songs were played beautifully by her stellar backing band. Basia Bulat is a diva in very good sense of the word!

The last band was another group of musicians that call Canada home, Acorn. Acorn rocked with their brand of well crafted infectious indie folk garage rock. Front man Rolf Klausener has an amazing voice and is charming and funny on stage and the rest of the band is really very tight and quite on point!

I urge all of you to go and check out the Acorn, Basia Bulat and Gold Lake you will not be disappointed... trust me!
