I was really sad to read the news about Alexa Ray Joel today. Alexa Ray is the daughter of Billy Joel and legendary supermodel Christie Brinkley and is a talented musician in her own right. According to the local NYC media, Alexa Ray was rushed to the hospital earlier this afternoon after trying to overdose on sleeping pills, according to the news reports this was a suicide attempt. Alexa is in stable condition at St. Vincents hospital in NYC.
I had the pleasure of meeting Alexa Ray about two years ago and I found her to be really sweet and down to earth. You would have never thought she was the daughter of a musicial legend and a supermodel that's how normal she was!
I hope Alexa Ray gets well physically, mentally and spiritually soon and is back to making music!
No matter how bad things get in life suicide is never the answer! If you feel depressed, suicidal and overwhelmed please talk to someone!
Moving along..you've heard me go on and on about how Dr. Dog is my one of my very favorite bands. Below is a clip of them performing "The Rabbit, The Bat and The Reindeer" in Austin TX. We get to see Scott McMicken's bare chest in this clip...very sexy! Enjoy!

2010 Grammy Noms
Last night the nominees for the 2010 Grammy Awards were announced. Beyonce, The Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Kings of Leon were nominated for song and album of the year. The Maxwell song "Pretty Wings" is also a nominee along side all those other artists in the song of the year category. While MGMT, Zac Brown Band,Silversun Pickups, Kari Hilson and the Ting Tings are nominated in the best new artist category.
It always interests me to see who wins the best new artist Grammy, cause in the past the Grammy peeps have given the best new artist Grammy to Milli Vanilli (for all you kids not in the know Milli Vanilli, was two Germans with dreads who didn't sing one note on their album), Christopher Cross, Debby Boone and Starland Vocal band.
And the Grammys for song of the year in years past have gone to songs such as; "Don't Worry Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin, "Sailing" by Christopher Cross and "You Light Up My Life" by Debby Boone. And who could forget when the Grammys awarded Jethro Tull the Grammy for best heavy metal performance!?
It's cool that the Grammy peeps actually know who MGMT, Zac Brown Band and Silversun Pickups are! In hindsight I guess the Grammys are trying to get some cred. It could be worse Miley Cyrus or another Disney teenage puppet could be nominated in the best new artist category and in other major Grammy categories! And I'm happy that Kings of Leon got nominated for song and album of the year but I still say all of you need to download KOL's first album "Youth and Young Manhood". It's by far their best!

New Right on Dynamite and "Divorce Court"
Whatever blog friends Right on Dynamite have a cool new track called "Space Jam". And you are all welcome! Click on the title of this entry and you shall receive your gift of awesome FREE music!
Today, I was talking with a co worker about the whole Tiger Woods drama and that led us to talking about how this whole mess reminded us of an episode of the 80's daytime TV show "Divorce Court". "Divorce Court" is still on TV but the version of "Divorce Court" that is on currently is nothing like "Divorce Court" that aired in the 80's. The version of "Divorce Court" that aired in the 80's was highly scripted and very mellow dramatic. "Divorce Court" that is on now is considered a reality show with real people seeking a divorce and 15 min of fame.
Anyhow the episodes of the 80's version of "Divorce Court" kinda sorta mirrored the drama that is going on in Tiger Woods life right. There were highly salacious extra marital affairs, drugs, violence...you get the picture! And the people who got divorces were always people that had tons of money! You never saw an episode of 80's "Divorce Court" dealing with couple who lived in a trailer park or housing project getting a divorce! Everyone always had really glam 80's lives on 80's "Divorce Court"!
My co worker also mentioned that he saw on a before they were stars type of show, that a very young pre fairy tale, piano playing goddess named Tori Amos guested on "Divorce Court" playing the part of a mistress. I tried looking for Tori's "Divorce Court" debut on You Tube and I couldn't find it. Instead I found this episode of the 80's version "Divorce Court" dealing with the troubling divorce of two professional bowlers. Who knew the world of pro bowling could be so scandalous?!
And here is a commercial from 1986 for "Divorce Court".
A bit of trivia, Judge William Keene who played the judge on "Divorce Court" was an actual judge who presided over the Manson family trial in the early 70's.
And if any of you can let me know, if it is true that a very young Tori Amos once appeared on "Divorce Court" I would be most grateful! And if you provide the clip I will be especially grateful!!

Jerri Blank and the Muppets
Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and have come out that turkey coma!
For all future blog parties including the one on 12/22 and all other events I'm leaving the photography to the pros with amazing cameras! My camera still isn't working and it's an issue that goes beyond simply charging the battery! Once everything is all fixed I will post the pictures that I took of the blog party on 11/17.
We're going slightly off the topic of music today! As of late I have been addicted to watching episodes "Strangers With Candy" (which in my opinion is one of the greatest most underrated TV shows ever!) on Hulu. For all you not in the know, "Strangers With Candy" aired on Comedy Central from 1999 to 2000 and it told the story of Jerri Blank a 46 year old ex con who decides to go straight and go back to high school. The brilliant Amy Sedaris starred as Jerri and Stephen Colbert co starred as Mr. Noblet the history teacher that was having an affair with the male art teacher Mr. Jellineck.
Below is a clip were Jerri learns the hard lessons of freedom of speech.
And cause I thought this was cute here are the Muppets doing their unique version of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody". Little bit of Muppet and rock trivia, the character of Animal the drummer in The Muppet band is actually based on The Who's Keith Moon.
Enjoy!
Oh and if you like the "Strangers With Candy" clip, you can watch full episodes on Hulu or you can Netflix the DVD's of the series.
