From our friends at www.everythingisterrible.com. Check out this charity single gem in support for the troops during the first Gulf War in the early 90's. The melody and chorus are eerily similar to "Sending Our Love Down The Well" from "The Simpsons". Some of the celebs singing on the single include; Meryl Streep, Michelle Pfiffer, The Fonz, Gary Busey, Fred Savage, Brody Jenner's mom, David Cassidy, Whoopi Goldberg, Chevy Chase, Lindsay Wagner, Michael Bolton, Alyssa Malano, "Downtown" Julie Brown, Paul Williams, Jani Layne from Winger and of course Nelson and their sister Tracy who played the valley girl on "Square Pegs". Oh and how could I forget there is a sax solo in the middle of the song by Kenny G.!! And I wonder how coked out his skull Gary Busey was while taping this video??
Total classic! Enjoy!!

Tim Curry, Static Summer and Pole Superstar tickets
Last night I watched "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" for the umpteenth time, that is one film I never get sick of! I just love everything about "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and one of the things or one of the people that make love that film is Tim Curry. If you haven't seen "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" or if you have and you don't know who Tim Curry is he played Dr. Frank N. Furter.
And besides "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" Tim Curry has been in many films and TV shows such as, "The Hunt For Red October", "Rosanne" and "It" in which he played the freaky clown.
He not only is a fantastic actor but he's a really great singer. He's appeared numerous times on Broadway most recently in "Spamalot". And back in the late 70's and the early 80's he had a career as a rock musician, he released two albums on A&M and had two songs called "I Do The Rock" and "Paradise Garage" that hit the top ten. All of you who have seen "The Rocky Horror Picture" know what I mean when I say that Tim Curry when he was singing rock music really had a voice and a mojo that was on par with Mick Jagger's voice and mojo. Below are the clips for "I Do The Rock" and "Sweet Transvestite" from "Rocky Horror Picture Show" watch and those who don't know will see what I mean.

Bill Maher, Right on Dynamite The Art of Shooting and Rebbie Jackson
I just love Bill Maher check out his take on "Profit Motives" in the US.
Right on Dynamite moves "Backwards" and the Art of Shooting are "Drinking and Dressing", both bands play the first ever Whatever blog party on 8/8 at the Cameo Gallery in Brooklyn. It's seven dollars to get in and 21 and over to hear Right on Dynamite, The Art of Shooting, Small Mountain Path and Electric Tickle Machine!
And below is a clip from the Solange Knowles of the Jackson family... Rebbie, performing her only hit from the 80's "Centipede". "Centipede" is actually a great little R&B gem and if I remember Michael is singing background on this track. Totally dig the background dancers and Rebbie's ultra glam 80's dress!

Things to check out...
Being the NPR geek that I'am, I heard a interview with a documentary film maker by the name of Aviva Kempner that totally peaked my interest. Kempner has a film out called "Yoo-Hoo Mrs. Goldberg". The film's subject is actress and writer Gertrude Berg who was one of the first female media titans way back in the 30's & 40's. Gertrude Berg, created, wrote and stared in a radio show (which would later become a TV show) called "The Goldbergs". "The Goldbergs" was about a middle class Jewish family who lived in a tenement in the Bronx and then in the later seasons of the TV show the family moved to the suburbs of Connecticut. Gertrude Berg's, character of Molly was a warm maternal likable character who anyone could relate too, whose catch phrase when getting her neighbors attention was "Yoo-Hoo".
"The Goldbergs" radio show was trail blazing in other ways besides having a female creator, the show dealt with the subjects that no one else was dealing with at the time such as the holocaust and Jewish holidays such as Passover. And besides the radio/tv show Gertrude Berg also had a clothing line, column and performed in vaudeville. She was Oprah before Oprah was even thought of!!
"Yoo-Hoo Mrs. Goldberg" is out now and playing in selected cities. Check out the trailer below.

And speaking of TV shows, I'm seriously hooked on the latest season of "Entourage". So in honor of the latest season of "Entourage" below is a clip of Adrian Grenier's band The Honey Brothers' song "Some of Them Are Nice Days". FYI the Honey Brothers play next weekend's All Points West festival in Jersey City, NJ. And oh yeah and we've got to give a quick little shout out to Dory and Kid Honey!!
