Madonna pictures from The Sitcky and Sweet tour at MSG

I know I'm nearly a year late on this. But I finally figured out how to upload camera photos to my computer and so here are some pictures from the Madonna "Sticky and Sweet" show that I saw at MSG last October. Enjoy!!

Open letter to Katy Perry

Dear Katy Perry,

Maybe you are aware of my blog maybe you aren't. I hope this letter finds you some how cause in it I'm gonna be very blunt and honest with you. I will admit that when the song "Ur So Gay" first came out I will admit I thought it was cute and catchy and I thought well maybe she's got some really good strong material that isn't as kitchy. But then you came out with that awful song "I Kiss a Girl", I have nothing against the content of the song but I thought the song was poorly written and your vocals weren't so hot on the song! Jill Solbule wrote a much better song about the subject many years before you did it. I suggest you check out her song on itunes! Then you released another single called "Hot and Cold" which sounded just like "I Kissed a Girl" melody wise and vocally!

I don't know if it's you or your record label who are trying to market you as the American Lilly Allen with your songs and persona. Cause in every interview that I've seen or read of you, you try and be bitchy and scathing just like Lilly. And your songs are trying to be kitchy and smart like Lilly's You can't not hold a candle to Lilly, with your songs, your vocals and your bitchiness!

Your everywhere and now I read that your getting prime gigs at SXSW and Bonoroo. And your opening for one of the best bands ever The Meat Puppets at SXSW!! You aren't deserving of these gigs!!

Your a sub pare songwriter, your blah vocally and your really annoying in interviews! Your 15 minutes have gone on way too long and I wish you would just go away and do Christian music again!!

Thank you,

Amy of the whateverblog

PS: Take your boyfriend's band Gym Class Heroes and their friends Fall Out Boy with you to obscurity!

MEANY USA and other things

If you are in New York City this up and coming week and your looking for something to do this up and coming Saturday 2/28, go and check out MEANY USA's show at Crash Mansion.

On the bill for this up and coming Saturday night are; Golden Age of Radio, Jupiter Deluxe, the very trippy Dead Stars, Saint of the Illegals, the rockin' Figo (I had the pleasure of seeing Figo at CMJ and they are not to be missed), Harris Trucks and the amazing Knights of Columbus.

It's a ten dollar cover with this bill it's soooo worth it! And it's 21 and over to come in and enjoy the music! Crash Mansion is located at 199 Bowery off of Spring Street.

Moving right along...the Oscars are tonight. Usually I love to go and see all the films that the critics say are going to be nominated. But due to lack of $$$ this year I only saw three and the films I saw where "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", "Frost/Nixon" and "Milk".

I thought "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" was okay, I usually really like David Fincher films but I thought this one was basically Fincher and Brad Pitt doing "Forest Gump Part 2". "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" is based on a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald (he's the guy that wrote "The Great Gatsby" you know the book you had to read in 9th grade english and P. Doofy always compares himself to the Great Gatsby in interviews) any how the short story by Fitzgerald is actually a funny short story. Fitzgerald was inspired to write the story after reading a quote from Mark Twain about man ageing backward. As mentioned the screen writers basically a funny short story into "Forest Gump 2".

I really liked both "Frost/Nixon" and "Milk". I really think that both Frank Langella who played Richard Nixon in "Frost/Nixon" and Sean Penn who played Harvey Milk in "Milk" both really deserve the Oscar. Both gave really stellar performances and both films were really great. And for all you kids who don't know both "Milk" and "Frost/Nixon" are based on real people "Milk" and real life incidents "Frost/Nixon".

We'll see who wins tonight!!
