So I'm sure as all of you know yesterday was the inauguration of Barack Obama and Joe Biden. And all of the various inauguration "balls" (que the Beavis and Butt Head laugh) took place last night. ABC aired "The Neighborhood Ball" last evening for all you kids who didn't watch "The Neighborhood Ball" it basically was a whole bunch of Hollywood stars such as Leo DiCaprio, the chick from "Grey's Anatomy", Vanessa Willams and Nick Cannon introducing music stars such as Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Shakira, Sting, Faith Hill, Jay-Z, Beyonce, the dude from the Black Eyed Peas and people who bounced around on springy things. This was the ball where Beyonce sang "At Last" to the Obamas.
I watched with a friend of mine and for us it was like watching the Oscars!
Anyhow I really thought Beyonce did a great job with her song! Sasha Fierce/Mrs. Jay-Z, looked beautiful and really generally overcome with emotion while she was singing. The Obamas looked so in love and so cute while they were dancing, it looked like a first dance at a wedding but none the less it was really cute and sweet to watch them. My friend and I really loved Michelle's dress, it was the right color for her and the dress was very minimalist (which is perfect for these times) but yet really chic! Am I the only one out there who thinks Jill Biden is one hot mama!? I loved her dress last night as well it was a great color and it kinda reminded of a Nancy Regan/Nolan Miller 80's type of dress. Watching the Bidens dance was very sweet as well, do any of you know who was singing "Have I Told You Lately" while the Bidens danced? It almost sounded like Luther Vandross.
Out of all the performers who played last night my friend and I really enjoyed Stevie Wonder, but what bugged us was when everyone came up to sing with Stevie, the producers should have let Stevie do the whole thing on his own. And what was up with Mariah during that group number!? She seriously looked pissed that she wasn't the one asked to sing for the Obamas!
And this is really bugging me why were Shakira and Sting asked to perform? By the way for all of you who didn't watch last night, Shakira totally butchered one of the greatest soul songs "Dark Side of the Street" with her horrid goat singing! And I didn't watch this show but I read that U2 performed at a concert that took place on Sunday which aired on HBO.
I understand that both Sting and Bono own homes in the US but can they vote in the US?? Were Shakira, Sting and U2 asked to perform to show that the world is behind Obama?? Honestly they should have given U2, Shakira and Sting's performance slots to unknown American bands or artists. Team them up with a known artists or a known band at that Sunday show and let them play "The Neighborhood Ball"!!
Tomorrow back to the music!!

Obama's Inauguration Speech from today
So sorry I haven't posted the So So Glos interview as of yet! I've been so busy with my job that pays the rent that I haven't had a free moment to do anything! One day....this blog will pay the rent maybe under the Obama presidency (hehehe!!)!! The So So Glos interview will go up on Thursday, I promise!!
Anyhow for those of you who are living under a rock, today is the day that Barack Obama was sworn in as president. Today is a really exciting day and I don't know about you but I feel a totally different vibe in the air. That vibe is a really good one which I hope continues!! I have a lot of faith in Obama and the Obama presidency. I know it will take time but I'm full of hope, that he is able to fix the mistakes Bush left him with.
The clip below is Obama's inaugural speech for all you kids who haven't seen it. I found his inaugural speech was quite moving and I felt he delivered it very well.
Let's live in hope rather then fear!!
Oh and did any of you catch the footage of Bush and Cheney leaving the White House today? If you did... why was Cheney in a wheel chair? Cheney really looked like Lionel Barrymore in "It's A Wonderful Life" in that wheel chair it was seriously creepy!!
