Some Stuff....
The last couple of weeks and the next couple of weeks will be busy ones for moi, I'm in the process of moving to Brooklyn and so I have been packing everything up and getting ready for the move. Plus I just started a real long term freelance gig.
I'm really excited about my move to Brooklyn! I will be living in Borough Park which is in between Sunset Park and Prospect Park and a few stops from both Park Slope and Williamsburg. I'm between Greenwood Cemetery, Prospect Park, The Botanical Gardens and the Brooklyn Museum.
The New York music scene basically is now based out of Brooklyn, it has been for the last eight years but now the New York Scene is Brooklyn. All of the Manhattan rock clubs are moving out there, the Knitting Factory is the latest Manhattan club to come out to Brooklyn, I read that it will open in the old Luna Lounge space in Williamsburg sometime in the fall. And then I read in the paper that Pete Shapiro who used to own The Wetlands (a hippy rock club that was located in Tribecca in the 90's for all you kids who never went) will be opening a club that will have bowling and live music, I read that it will be just like Asbury Lanes in New Jersey. Not sure when that is opening. And then I was reading in Time Out New York that there is a lot going on in terms of arts and music in the area that I will be moving too and also in Bed Sty and Crown Heights.
It's gonna be exciting to be living in the midst of all of this creativity!!
Oh and I'm going to see the Black Lips play McCarren Pool this sunday, so I'll have pictures posted from that next week!!
Anyway, GNYC music company is still looking for solo artists or bands to play Arlene's Grocery in Manhattan on Thursday 8/14 at various time slots. You need to be able to bring people out on a thursday night if you decide to take this gig!
If you are interested and can bring people out on a thursday contact Denise from GNYC directly at gnyctv@aol.com.
I leave you with some Black Lips:
