I'm wicked hot..I can do the worm and I'm rocking one leg!

While I shop for a new high tech tape recorder that isn't a cheap piece of crap and one that doesn't eat tape and regurgitate it.. seconds after an interview with Orion from the Orion Experience! Enjoy this "Rock of Love 2" parody from last week's SNL. This clip is really funny and it proves just how silly these reality shows are and how intentionally funny and spinal tapish rock and roll can sometimes be!!

While I'm in a video posting frenzy, I just had to include the latest video from Beach House in today's blog, the song is called "Heart of Chambers" and it's off their new album "Devotion". Like all Beach House songs it's very pretty, Beach House's music makes me feel like I'm floating on the softest, fluffiest clouds while living out a scene in a Nathaniel Hawthorne novel! The video is directed by Victoria's (the singer for all you kids not in the know) brother Alistair. And it's shot on the streets of Beach House's hometown Baltimore.
Enjoy!

What about Gram and Emmylou!?

And why aren't Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris in the rock hall!?

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame....

It's just about that time of the year where the Rock and Roll Hall of fame holds it's induction ceremony. This year the inductees are Madonna, The Dave Clark Five, Leonard Cohen, John Mellencamp and The Ventures. Supposedly Justin Timberlake will induct Madonna, Tom Hanks will induct The Dave Clark Five, Billy Joel will induct John Mellencamp and Lou Reed will induct Leonard Cohen.

I've said it in the past I have have a problem with the whole concept of the rock and roll hall of fame. My problems with it are this;

1) It's Jann Wenner, lawyers and CEO's making all the decisions on who gets nominated and gets in. And Jann and his cohorts are patting each other on their backs each induction ceremony...we're so cool we hang out with rock stars! To quote the Sex Pistols fame at $25,000!? It's not the fans choosing who gets in! And it's not the fans at the induction ceremonies.

2)Isn't the concept of a hall of fame an athletic one?? There are basketball, baseball and football halls of fame...and aren't most rockers are the farthest thing from jocks??

3)There are so many more deserving performers who have yet to be inducted..i.e. Iggy and the Stooges.

Ozzy Osbourne, said it best the rock and roll hall of fame award didn't mean anything to him because it wasn't voted on by the fans and the fans weren't part of the induction ceremony.

Rockstars get awards and accolades through their careers and Ozzy is right if this was something that was voted on by the fans and the fans were part of the induction ceremony it would be special and relevant. I've read that the Dave Clark Five have had fans petition the rock hall for years trying to get them in and the RHOF committe only took them into consideration when high profile people such as Little Steven got behind the petition. And last year the DC5 were up for induction yet again but passed over for acts that had more of a "name" despite getting more votes then those acts who had a "name" and were inducted in '07. It's Jann Wenner and "rock experts" who as mentioned above basically are CEO's and lawyers voting on who gets in and who get to hang out at the induction ceremony. And so it's their musical tastes, their clients and the artists that have been signed to their labels! To quote Johnny Rotten once more "it's the place where old rockers go to die...it's the rock and roll hall of shame", the whole idea and the whole process is so far from the spirit of rock and roll and what rock and roll is about and what it represents.

While I'm still on a rock hall diatribe, I like Madonna and I admire her for what she has done, but honestly (and not because I'm on a Kate Bush kick).. I think Kate Bush should be in there before Madonna!! Enjoy her video for "Running Up that Hill"...I so dig her music, her dramatic videos with her interpretive dancing and the awesome 80's new romantic fashions!!

I've also thrown some Nina Simone singing "I Put A Spell on You" in for some good measure! Love her too!! Now why isn't she in the RHOF..she certainly should have been in way before Madonna!

I love Kate Bush

She's so brilliant and a total original! Her music makes me feel so womanly and beautiful! Enjoy her video for "Withering Heights"!

Bitches get things done part duex

The Tina Fey/Hillary Clinton video I posted yesterday got pulled from You Tube. This is from the NBC SNL site....it's very funny...enjoy!

Bitch is the new black! And "Falling Slowly" from the Oscars

I will admit I did vote for Obama in the primaries and now I'm really starting to re think my vote. I think that the Obama campaign against Hillary is starting to get very smarmy and is really hitting below the belt. And I think the media is being really unfair to her, the comments about her looks, growing older and tears really pissed me off. Plus the cult that is growing around Obama is really starting to scare me!

This is really funny...it's Tina Fey from this past weekends SNL on Hillary and the media treatment of her. BITCHES GET THINGS DONE!! BITCH IS THE NEW BLACK!! I love that...those are gonna be my new mantras!

2/26/08:
The Tina Fey/Hillary video has been pulled from you tube. If you look in the above post I've reposted it from the SNL/NBC site.

I also wanted to include a clip of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova performing "Falling Slowly" from last night's oscars. I wasn't digging the Academy Orchestra coming in on the song at certain points, it kinda made a really pretty song sound like elevator music! But over all I thought it was a good performance and their win was a coup for indie music! And I was glad that Jon Stewart brought Marketa Irglova back out to say her acceptance speech after she was rudely cut off!!

The Oscars

As I've been saying I like to see the films that they say are going to be nominated, plus I like seeing what everyone is wearing cause.... I'm a dork like that!

Here are my thoughts about last night's oscars;

I've always liked Javier Bardem, I've always thought he was a great actor. I have yet to see "No Country For Old Men", I've heard nothing but really good things about that film and his performance. I hear his character and performance in that film is really very chilling. My only complaint with this category was, why wasn't the kid who played the young preacher in "There Will be Blood" nominated for best supporting actor!? I thought he deserved the nom more then Philip Seymour Hoffman did in "Charlie Wilson's War". I like Philip Seymour Hoffman I think he's a fantastic actor, but I thought the preacher kid from "There Will Be Blood" had a better performance then PSH in "Charlie Wilson's War". I thought PSH was basically playing his character in "Along Came Polly" as a CIA agent in "Charlie Wilson's War". Did anyone else think that too?

Tilda Swenson is a really great actress, she was very good in "Michael Clayton". But I don't know I still say Cate Blanchet deserved it more for playing Bob Dylan in "I'm Not There".

I was really very glad Marion Cotillard won for "La Vie En Rose", she's really excellent in that film! I highly recommend renting "La Vie En Rose"...Marion Cotillard transformed herself into Edith Piaf beautifully. It wasn't an impression! This woman was Edith Piaf for the duration of that film! Well deserved I thought!

I was very happy to see Daniel Day Lewis win, as I mentioned he is one of my favorite actors. I was saying to my friend last night no matter how much of an evil prick Daniel Day Lewis plays in his films, he still is such a handsome and sexy bastard to me!

As much as I hated "Juno" I was really glad that Diablo Cody won. With her background of being a stripper turned blogger turned novelist turned screenwriter..it kinda really made me feel like even for me, something could come of my little blog and my writing! My wildest dreams could come true! As corny as that sounds that's the way I felt when I saw her acceptance speech!

I can't tell you how thankful I was that the song from the "Once" won for best original song. I loved the film "Once" and I loved the music from the film. Why did three hokey songs from "Enchanted" have to be nominated? There was a Bob Dylan film this year couldn't one of the songs from "I'm Not There" have been nominated!? I'm just relieved that god awful song from "Juno" by the Moldy Peaches wasn't nominated. Kimya Dawson makes me sound like Aretha Franklin and I can't sing to save my life, maybe if I sung on a song I too could get some hipster kitch creed and have one of my songs be on an indie movie soundtrack!

What the freak was Hannah Montana doing there presenting an award!? All though I have to admit, I really liked her dress, make-up and hair it was one of my favorites of the night.

And that leads to my best dressed of the night list......

Hannah Montana
Amy Adams (loved the color of her dress thought that green color looked pretty with her red hair)
Jennifer Garner
Hillary Swank
Marion Cotillard
Kathryn Higel
Helen Miren (does anyone else think Helen Miren is a hot cougar?)

Just a few things.......

Tomorrow my Johnny Lloyd Rollins chat will be up and posted for sure!

Any how Secondhand Serenade will be playing the Conan O'Brien show tonight 2/22 on NBC at 12:30am, John is well worth staying in for on a friday night!

Fidel steps down and at the movies with Amy part duex

My Johnny Lloyd Rollins interview should be up and posted by the end of the week this week at the latest. Be on the look out!

Big news today Fidel Castro stepped down as leader of Cuba. His brother Raul is set to take over power. The US government says that the embargo will still stand even with Raul in power.

There are pros and cons in regard to Fidel and his rule over Cuba. He's known to have been a violent dictator who has opressed Cuba's gay citizens (what the film "Before Night Falls" was about) and has jailed or killed citizens known to have spoken out against him or his government. He censors the Cuban press. But at the same time he's also given his citizens full and good health care coverage and has the AIDS situation in Cuba under control. He's also raised the literacy rate in Cuba and Cuba has one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world.

With all of his pros and cons I've always found him to be a facinating individual and his rise to power a very interesting story. And usually any film you see on him or anything you read about him it's either pro Fidel or anti Fidel. A few years back American Experience on PBS aired a film about Fidel and it presented both sides of the argument about Castro. It was really well done and I wonder if they will re air it in light of the recent news?? If so and your a history/political geek like me it's worth watching.

I hope the embargo gets lifted soon because I would really love to travel to Cuba. It looks as if it's a beautiful country and I've always had an interest in Cuban music and culture. Those Germans and Canadians go all the time...it's a big vacation spot for them!

Onto the next subject....movies!

Yesterday I saw "There Will Be Blood" with Daniel Day Lewis. The film is about a self made oil tycoon in early 20th century California. The main character is supposedly based on a real life early 20th century California oil tycoon Edward Doheny. And parts of the story are based on the Upton Sinclair novel from 1927 "Oil". Daniel Day Lewis is one of my all time favorite actors and his performance in this film doesn't disapoint! He really captures the unhappiness, greed and competative nature of this character. Paul Dano who played the brother in the film "Little Miss Sunshine", plays a young evangelical preacher in "There Will Be Blood" and he really does an amazing job. And the young boy who plays Daniel Day Lewis' son also does an amazing job with his role. My only complaint with this film is that at times it's very slow moving (it's a three hour film) and it went off on tangents that really weren't relevant to the main plot, which made the overall plot a little choppy. I was meh on this film, I would say go and see it if your into brilliant acting and period peices.

Onto the next film!
Since I didn't have a Valentine on Valentine's day...I went to go and see the most anti Valentine's day film I could think of "The Savages" with Laura Linney and Phillip Seymor Hoffman. The film is about a brother (Hoffman) and sister (Linney) who have to deal with their estranged father's recent diagnosis of demintia and the guilt of putting him into a nursing home. The struggle and guilt that PSH and LL's characters go through with their father's illness and putting him into a nursing home, reminded me of the emotion of what my mother and uncle's delt with when dealing with putting their grandmother into a nursing home after she had a series of strokes. I'm sure there are many other people who have found themselves in and can relate to the predicament that the two main characters go through in this film. But honestly I would wait for this film to come on HBO or the IFC. I thought it was better suited as a made for TV film for one of those channels.

Johnny Lloyd Rollins be on the look out!!

The Barack Obama music video....

Barack Obama is my guy. I voted for him in the primary and his vibe and energy remind me of JFK. And I think that it's about time that we got some new young blood with fresh ideas again in the White House! But when I see the chick from the Pussy Cat Dolls and the dudes from the Black Eyed Peas and that douche from Live singing an Obama speech...I get a bit turned off to that candidate! It's like in '04 when Paris Hilton went on MTV wearing a John Kerry shirt and Ashton Kutcher campaigning for Kerry in the mid west...I got a bit turned off to John Kerry even though I voted for him. From what I read Obama's campaign didn't have anything to do with this video. But still I think Hollywood doesn't realize they do more damage then they help!

See for yourselves.

More pictures from the Dan Deacon show

More pictures of the dance off between Balloon man, Little Orphan Annie and Crazy Wig guy. Along with pictures of crowd surfing at the Whitney and human snakes.

Pictures from this past friday's Dan Deacon Show....

As I mentioned in blog posts from last week I attended the Dan Deacon show at the Whitney Museum of Art this past friday night. For all of you who don't read Pitchfork, Paste, Spin, Stereogum and Brooklyn Vegan..... Dan Deacon is an performance artist/electronica/accoustic composer who is getting a lot of attention from those publications and this very blog too!

His shows are certainly an event! The only way to discribe Dan's sound and his shows is too say if you took, Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", Terry Reily, Bobby Hill from "King of the Hill", Sonic Youth and Dr. Anton Phibes from all the Dr. Phibes films and threw them all in a blender and when it was done blending...you'd get Dan Deacon and the vibe of one of his shows.

As I mentioned in yesterday's post he gets the crowd very involved. There are sing alongs, dance offs, Ethan Hawke countdowns, human snakes and glowing skulls. It's a lot of fun and a nice change from watching some snooty ivy league jackoffs play shitty music and say nothing between each songs and have no real connection with the crowd!

Dan's music is very unique and very cool. I would say it's electronica but yet you hear the hardcore, new wave, Zappa, classical and jazz influences in there. The crowd friday night was a diverse one, you had the hipsters, the freaky kids, the punks and bikers. If Dan Deacon comes to a town near you he's so worth seeing live.... cause it's an experience!

Also as I mentioned Dan Deacon should be sending back his anwsers to my questions real soon!

More of Dan doing his thing!

The Grammys.

The Grammys were held last night and I didn't watch!! The reasons being; 1.) Cause they were on against the only TV shows that I watch faithfully i.e "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill". 2.) I've gotten rid of my cable and now have the premium channels and sometimes CBS comes in and other times it doesn't and last night it didn't.

I read the complete list of winners in the paper today and I was glad to see Amy Winehouse win for a really good song and I'm glad she got best new artist! Also glad to see Mark Ronson getting his due and the Grammys giving the best heavy metal award to a real heavy metal band Slayer. How awesome is that!? And how awesome would it have been if Slayer played during the broadcast!? Anyone remember when they gave the heavy metal trophy to Jethro Tull??!! I think that was the same year that they gave the best new artist award to Milli Vanilli!

Ugghh why did the two jackoffs from "Flight of the Conchords" win best comedy album!? I'm telling all of you FOTC is nothing more then a Tencious D. rip off with New Zealand accents, alt folk music and New York City! And being wacky for the sake of being wacky! Nothing funny about those two assholes!! Would would have been great is if they televised the best comedy award acceptance speech from the two Outback Steakhouse spokesmen, and Kayne West came up on stage and interrupted them and had a temper tantrum about loosing much like he did at the Euro VMA's a few years back. Had that happened and Slayer played, I would have found a way to make CBS come in clearly on my TV!!

And Alicia Keys...she's talented but very overrated!! I saw she won for best R&B song. And my friend told me she did a virtual duet with Frank Sinatra that opened the show.

Haven't heard the Herbie Handcock/Joni Mitchell album, I do like the both of them a lot but I find there are certain artists (Herbie Handcock and Joni Mitchell included) that can release an album of nothing but them belching and farting and the Grammy people would nominate it for album of the year. Others on that "always get nominated for a grammy no matter what" list besides Herbie Handcock and Joni Mitchell are Alicia Keys, Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney, Sheryl Crow and Bruce Springsteen. I saw Bruce won for best rock song for "Radio No Where", I love Bruce but I don't think that song was one of his best.. I was kinda meh on the whole "Radio No Where" album!

Onto the next subject! Yesterday I had the pleasure to sit and chat with the wonderful Mr. Johnny Lloyd Rollins and I should have that chat up and posted by the end of this week. Also I attended the Dan Deacon show at the Whitney Museum this past friday night and I will have a write up and pictures on that show posted real soon. I also submitted questions for Mr. Deacon to answer and hopefully I should be getting his answers real soon!

One last note on the Dan Deacon show, I know in other music blogs Dan Deacon has been critized for what he does with his shows. Quite frankly I'd rather go to a Dan Deacon show complete with sing-alongs, dance-offs, glowing skulls and Ethan Hawke countdowns, over some snooty hipster band or artist that just stands there and plays, says nothing in between songs and yells at the crowd to shut-up the fuck up! Live shows should be about; being connected to the artist or band and having the artist or band be connected to the crowd, having the music transend but most of all having lots of fun!

Babies at Union Hall in Brooklyn

Union Hall is a bar/music venue in Park Slope Brooklyn. For all of you non New Yorkers, in recent years Park Slope has become over run by yuppie parents (or the Buggaboo brigade as I call them or "helicopter parents" as Time Magazine calls them) who think their precious little dears should not only be the center of their world but everyone else's too. And yuppie parents taking their children into bars in the Slope has been a big problem within the last couple of years. It's been getting so bad that a bartender in Brooklyn wrote the Stroller Manifesto, if I find it on line I'll post it. Union Hall, enforced a no stroller rule not allowing the Buggaboo brigade and their precious spawn in. Sighting that bringing in small children is a huge liability due to the fact that sometimes boozing yuppie parents don't pay attention to their children and watching their children becomes the responsibilty of other patrons and the bar. Also sighting that the strollers block exits and get in the way of staff and other patrons. Well this week Union Hall gave in to the yuppie presure let up on that rule allowing boozing yuppies and their children in at off afternoon hours.

And by the way I'm not anti child I love kids and hope to have some one day! It's just that I have a problem with parents taking small children to inappropriate places i.e. bars and movies that clearly aren't for small children like "Cloverfield"! Then getting all up in arms, when bar patrons or fellow movie goers complain about the kid running up and down the aisles and screaming!

I wanna say to those people SMALL CHILDREN DON'T BELONG IN A BAR...DO YOU KNOW WHOSE MOM TOOK HIM TO BARS WHEN HE WAS A SMALL CHILD!!??..... CHARLES MANSON...WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU USE SOME COMMON SENSE!! If these yuppie fucks heard that Charlie Manson's mother took him to bars when he was a kid I think the problem of taking children to bars in Park Slope would be solved very quickly!! The argument that the yuppies present is that parents are allowed to bring children into pubs in countries like Ireland and England. Well news flash...this is New York City not the Irish or English country side and liability insurance rates are more expensive and laws are stricter here then they are over there! Plus Americans seem to be more law suit happy then our Irish and English friends!! You know the second one of these kids gets hit with a bacchi ball or falls at Union Hall by accident..these Park Slope parents would be the first to sue the hell out of Union Hall!!

I think back to my childhood if my parents wanted to go out and booze it up, they hired a BABYSITTER!! Or they brought a six pack or a bottle of wine and invited friends over and drank it at home!! If they went out to a bar that meant that they wanted to get out away from us for a few hours and have some "grown up time"!!

Union Hall (Sort of) Lifts Stroller Ban
Last weekend we took a look at Union Hall's new baby ban. The owner, Jim Carden, upset a lot of stroller-pushers when he declared kids would no longer be allowed in the establishment and put up a sign reading: "no strollers please". He asked nicely, but the Park Slope parents weren't having it. They rallied together on blogs to gain back the right to booze it up with their babies on board.

They won. Today the Brooklyn Paper's Smartmom announces that "the bar will once again welcome in moms and their kids for some downtime (and drinks!) a few afternoons a week." Prompting the question: "can we all get along?" Most likely the regular bar set won't be at the bar on the afternoons, but it's inevitable that they'll have something to say about it. The problem is mostly with parenting skills, many imbibing baby-watchers don't, in fact, watch their babies too closely, leaving employees and patrons chasing after their children.

“It was strictly liability,” Carden said. “A lot of parents are great and mindful. But some are not that attentive to their kids when they’re in here. This is a bar with an open stairwell and a bocce court. This is a business and we don’t have the staff to police it.”
While there will be a few "off hour" afternoons that allow the under-aged, there will no longer be "mommy groups". But we're sure a much more appropriate venue can be found for such a thing, right?

I'd love to know how you guys feel on this issue??

Weekend Shows and the Maharisi Mahesh Yogi

Yesterday I mentioned that I will be seeing Mr. Dan Deacon friday night at the Whitney Museum, I'm very excited for that show!!

Saturday there are two shows that I will be attending and you should be attending as well. The first is Johnny Lloyd Rollins and his back up band the All Nighters, Johnny and the boys hail from Dallas Texas and are in our fair city for the next week playing shows (Johnny did an amazing accoustic solo show at Niagara last night) and exploring NYC. Johnny's sound can best be described as that long lost recording sesion between Elvis and Paul McCartney. Johnny and the boys are playing this saturday 2/9 at LeRoyle which is located at 21 7th Avenue South, he goes on at 9:30pm. I've linked Johnny's myspace page below so you can hear his songs for yourself.

The second show that I will be at on saturday; is MEANY Fest 2007 finalists John McGrew and the Sitbacks. John and the boys are playing one of my favorite live music venues the Rockwood Music Hall which is located at 184 Allen Street right in the good old LES!! John and the Sitbacks go on at 10pm. Hopefully soon John and the boys will be doing a chat in this very blog.

I'll be rushing around saturday night!

Onto the next subject.
The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi passed away yesterday from natural causes at the age of 91.
For all of you who don't know the Maharishi pioneered the technique of Transcendental Meditation. More famously the Maharishi was the guru of the Beatles, Mia Farrow and Mike Love of the Beach Boys. The Beatles stayed at the Maharishi's ashram in 1968 in India with Mia Farrow, Mike Love and Donovan and John and George left the ashram earlier then they were supposed too. And the story I've always heard as to why John and George left Maharishi's ashram early, is that the Maharishi supposedly made a sexual advance towards Mia Farrow and that so unnerved John and George. And John wrote the songs "Sexy Sadie" and "Everybody's Got Something to Hide..." off the "White Album" as a result of that incident and the Beatles time with the Maharishi.

The ultimate goal of TM is enlightenment and your supposed to sit 20 minutes a day and meditate. I don't the exacts of TM but I know people who swear by it. They say that it helps them function. Howard Stern practices TM as does the film director David Lynch. And you can still take courses on TM where ever you live and the Maharishi opened a university in Iowa strictly for the practice of TM. I've tried meditation and I know that it's really good for you, but I have such an ADD brain that I can only sit for about five minutes then I'm done!! If any of you practice or have practiced TM, I'd love to know if it's worked for you. None the less RIP Maharishi!

It's a Super Tuesday!!

Uggh so sorry I've been having such a duh day today. I re read this post and relized I had a lot of typos in this post!! I fixed them!!

Today is "Super Tuesday" what that means is there are twenty four states (New York included) voting in the presidential primary. So all of you who are registered with a political party and who live in one of the twenty four states who are holding elections today should get out there and vote!!

I really have high hopes for the Democratic candidates this time around. I think both Hillary and Obama are very qualified candidates who won't take any of the right wing bull. I honestly had a hard time choosing between the two. What would be ideal would be a Hillary/Obama ticket in the fall! I some how doubt that will happen... but then again who knows!

I wanna like John McCain, he's been a moderate on issues in the past and the whole heroic POW thing is whats made me like him. My direct connection with McCain is that I interned for his daughter Sidney when she was a PR exec at Capitol Records, she was a really nice gal! But my problem with McCain is that he bows to the far right his views on Iraq and his ass kissing of Bush and Co when they did a number on him in 2000 is scary! But I will say a McCain/Hillary or McCain/Barack fight this fall would be really interesting.

I loathe Romney he's such a scary Mormon robot!! I honestly hope that he drops out of the race soon!! Huckabee... I kinda find that there is something very likeable about him in a very strange way, I totally disagree with his politics and his views on evolution, the gays etc. And Huckabee's son is a scary guy, but who doesn't like a guy who rocks the bass for a band called Captiol Offense!? And I can't tell you how glad I'am Guliani is out of the running!! People forget prior to 9/11 that he ran NYC like Nazi and exploited his actions on 9/11 for his campaign.

One thing that I haven't noticed and maybe it's too early.. is the participation of P. Doofy, P. Doody or Sean John or whatever the fuck his name is these days. He really pissed me off in 2004 with the whole "Vote or Die" thing. It was sooo obnoxious and phony.. at the sametime if the "Vote or Die" ads got one kid to get out to register to vote then that's good I guess. The people who participated in that didn't even bother to register to vote and Paris Hilton as one of the spokespeople!? Does she even know that we have a president in the US??? Every interview you saw of P. Doofy in 2004 he would always say "I'm making voting sexy". I really cringe when things that are your civic duty and your right (i.e. voting) and causes (i.e. Africa) get turned into trends!

One last thought for the day and a be on the look out....I'm really crushing on Eli Manning!! He's so cute!!

Really excited to see Dan Deacon at the Whitney Museum this Friday! And I will have an interview posted with Mr. Deacon along with a write up of the show sometime next week. Stay tuned!!

ETA: I guess I spoke to soon! Here's exclusive coverage of P. Doody relaunching his "Vote or Die" Campaign from this morning. Where was he when several states were electing governers and senators in '05, his home state of NY included and the mid term house elections of '06?? From the Wireimage website.

Uggghh we have to endure another whole couple of months of P. Doody on TV explaining why he's trying to make voting "sexy" again! And him trotting out Paris again as one of the spokespeople for "Vote or Die" and her saying that she finds either Obama or Hillary to be hot!

The Giants and Vagina Dentata

What a game last night!! What a noble effort made by Eli and the Giants defense!! I watched the first half in Brooklyn and was on route home to Manhattan during the half time show. So all of you who saw Tom Petty play the half time show, you have to let me know how he did. I was home in time for the second half..... what an exciting second half it was!! The energy in the air last night in New York after the Giants won was really electric!! My block is quiet for the most part, but last night you could hear everyone going crazy! This bugged me, could Bill Bellichick's move of running out on the field with one second left be anymore of a total sore loser move!?

Well onto the next subject which is...well very well the polar opposite of the Superbowl!

This past saturday I saw the film "Teeth", for all of you who haven't heard of this film the main character is a teen age girl named Dawn who is a born again Christian and very involved in the chaste movement at her school. Dawn lives near a power plant with her stepfather, sick mother and dirt bag of a stepbrother. And she often finds herself in some very intense sexual situations, not only with her step brother but with a schoolmate who tries to date rape her and a another schoolmate who uses her for sex. Everytime she finds herself in one of these situations...she discovers that the teeth in her vaj that take care of the aggressive male! She finds out that her condition is called "vagina dentata", which means vagina with teeth! This condition is found in Greek mythology and in ancient Egyptian mythology. As Dawn finds out, a conquering hero who truly loves her is the only person who can get rid of the teeth in her vagina. *SPOLIER AHEAD* And of course in her quest she doesn't find a hero.

The film is a definite parody and commentary on the religous right and how they suppress and make female sexuality out to be a very bad and evil thing. Mainly the message of the film is that society is afraid of how powerful female sexuality truly is and yet it's fine and acceptable for a male to be overly sexual and in command of his sexuality.

What's really interesting about this film is that it was written and directed by a man!!

The sub plot with Dawn and her sick mother often got confusing at times to the teeth in the vajajay storyline. But over all I really liked this film, it's a total midnight movie cult film and I found it to be very funny!! In a strange way it's a female empowerment film!!

After I saw it and was telling all my female friends about it we all had the same reaction...we wished we had teeth in our vagina that would come out when we came across a guy who treated us really shitty!!

Ladies, I would say go to this film with your girlfriends or take your boyfriend if he's really pissing you off!
