Brian Atene and his life story

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWbl4vQLfr4

(Read this in your best Brian Atene voice)

Brian Ateneolei was born on August 16, 1963 to Helen (nee' Houser) and Anthony Ateneolei. His mother Helen was an Italian and German beauty with blond hair and blue eyes she looked like Judy Holiday and was born and raised in Brooklyn, she was 21 years of age when Brian was born. Anthony a strapping man of Italian ancestry was also born in raised in a neighborhood only a few short subway stops away from were Helen was raised in Brooklyn, he was 23 years old when Brian was born. Brian was their first child followed by a sister by the name of Donna two years later and another sister by the name of Stacey followed suit four years after Brian. The family settled in a modest ranch style house in Massapequa on Long Island.

Brian realizing early on that he was the best and brightest of the lot decided that he wanted to become an actor. He changed his last name from Ateneolei to Atene when he was twelve years old and began speaking in a strange slow English type accent because right then and there he realized he was the greatest actor ever, he also ran around the neighborhood in a purple velvet cape and pantaloons! When the other children saw him and he told this fact to the other children in the neighborhood they laughed and proceeded to beat him up. Anthony never got his son but Helen loved it when he would do cuttings for her of the TV show "New Love American Style". When he was 18 that accent and his last name got him accepted to Julliard the finest acting institution in the world! That is not a statement of conceit but a mere fact!

One day in 1983 he read that Stanley Kubrick was holding a nation wide casting call for his new major motion picture "Full Metal Jacket", with stars in his eyes our hero made the finest audition tape for Mr. Kubrick!! Our hero performed a cutting from "The Outsiders" with all of his heart!! But alias the Mr. Kubrick didn't see the tape only a Mr. Jaque Mehoffer saw the tape and offered Brian a part in his new film "Full Metal Tush", Brian needed to money and so he did it and he did it and became a big star in the adult film world by combining Shakespeare, Kubrick and sex under the name Sir Phallic Guinness in tribute to the actor he compares himself too Sir Alec Guinness all music was composed by Eric Wolfgang Korngold and Micheal Cortez directed one picture called Seafauk! He retired from the adult movie world two years later a wealthy man to a mansion in the Valley with his wife Busty Dusty who played the lead opposite Brian in the film "Butt Wide Shut". Two years later that infamous audition tape ended up on Youtube and brought Brian the mainstream fame he so desired. Then a month later in a tragic twist of fate Brian's spaniel puppy Tom Cruise turned on him and bit him in the leg and when asked about the accident he said "I ain't nevvvahh gonna walk agein.....not even on CRUTCHEEEEESSSSS" The Doctors and the nurses in the emergency room found him to be the finest actor in the lot. After the traumatic puppy bite, Brian decided to try his hand at mainstream acting once more and he auditioned for "I Love New York" a new reality show on Vh-1, he decided to create a character and so he dyed his dark hair blond and created the character of Mr. Boston, a nerdy annoying character with a high pitch voice who picks his nose. He fell hard for Miss. New York and when she sent him home packing he was devastated, he really felt she was his princess. One night he appeared underneath her window and recited a cutting from Romeo and Juliet, Miss New York wasn't impressed and she got all ghetto on his ass and started to beat the crap out of him along with all the other contestants on the show. Broken hearted not for long Brian fell for another "Flavor of Love" castoff Pumpkin. Pumpkin moved into Brian's mansion in the Valley with Busty Dusty and Tom Cruise. They are all in production for a new reality show on VH-1 called "The finest actor in the lot.....and his ladies".

Along with the new reality show Brian has also signed a deal to with Bright Eyes record label to re record and produce and star in a video version of R. Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet". Brian's co stars for the video version of "Trapped in the Closet" include, Pumpkin, Miss New York (they have since made up and she is just blown away by his acting talent), Busty Dusty and a special appearances by James Lipton from "Inside the actors studio" as the police officer, Conor Obest as the well hung midget who poops himself, John Travolta as the obese woman and with Chris Martin from Coldplay as one of the men . Other tracks on his latest album will be covers of Kenny Loggins' "Return to Poo Corner", "Footloose" and "Clocks" by Coldplay with special guest backing vocals by Chris Martin and "Email my heart" by Britney Spears. It should be out soon and guest commentary by Stanley Kubrick from 1985.

He is slowly concurring the world!

NOTE THIS IS MY TAKE ON BRIAN ATENE AFTER THE VIDEO!!

Blah Blah Blah.......

I did finally see the Sanjaya/Joe Perry performance on "American Idol" on Youtube and as I said yesterday if Joe had gone on an AI type show ten or twenty years ago he would have lost all musical cred! Loved the wind machine, that was very rock and roll!! As Artie Lange from the Howard Stern show said "American Idol reminds me of all those John Davidson specials from the 70's" and it's true it's one big John Davidson, Hudson Brothers, Jeff and Pink Lady, Marilyn McCoo and Bad 70's/early 80's variety hour. I was half expecting to see Marilyn McCoo come out and sing "Gimme Shelter" with Sanjaya and Joe Perry, I was also half expecting to see the solid gold dancers come out and dance behind them!! Ahhh "Solid Gold", I loved that show when I was little, I wanted to be the one solid gold dancer who had the really long hair and I loved it when they had people on the street lipsynch the latest songs!! And they got some pretty big acts on that show, I can remember a show were they had the Rolling Stones on and Madonna was on "Solid Gold".

Anyway Green Day kinda jumped the shark in my book for going on AI and singing a great song on AI!! I read a blurb in the paper today that supposedly the AI producers wanted Paul McCartney to perform some songs off his new album and suppsedly he turned them down cause he and his people feel the show is beneath him and chessy!

One more rant and then I'm done....skiny jeans and that whole BoHo look!? What is the deal with that I was rocking that look long before all the Rachel Zoebots!! I never wore skinny jeans cause personally I think they are really ugly and remind me of 1984!! But I was totally rockin' the whole boho look long before Rachel Zoe and Forever 21 made robots out of Lindsay Lohan and all the twenty year old girls across America!!

And Donald Trump, you are delusional and an ass so please go away! I really don't care what you think of the Rosie/Elisabeth feud!

Okay now I'm done! Sleep this weekend may make me feel better!!

Have a good weekend!!

More things that piss me off part duex.....

1) "American Idol", I will admit I got into watching when that Sanjaya kid was on the show, there was something very punk rock about the semi talented Indian Kid bringing down the show by being named an American Idol. The show proved that it was a set up when it kicked Sanjaya off when he was getting the most votes. Last night was the finale and I was flipping the channels and didn't watch the whole thing, but I saw Green Day perform their version of "Working Class Hero", I would have had more respect for Green Day if they did "American Idiot". I also saw Taylor Hicks with his eyes glued to the teleprompter butcher one of my very favorite Beatles songs "A Day in the life", I had to turn after that but I understand that turned into a whole Sgt. Pepper's medley, John Lennon and George Harrison must have been spinning in their graves!! Then I heard that Joe Perry was brought out to jam with Sanjaya, is Stephen Tyler not getting those royalty checks fast enough to Joe?? It's just really sad that "American Idol" is now being used as a promotional tool for some of the biggest and most respectable artists around i.e. Joe Perry, Prince, Smokey Robinson and Green Day. Twenty years ago if there was a show like AI and someone like Joe Perry had gone on it, he would have lost all music cred! But I do like Kelly Clarkson and I'm digging those whole new rock chick thing that she is doing! And I think it's very cool that Mike Watt worked with her on her latest album. I still find it hysterically funny that Paula Abdul is critiquing people's musical ability. Chris Rock had the best line about that, he said Paula Abdul judging a singing contest is like Christopher Reeve judging a dancing contest.

2) Which leads me to the next thing which is pissing me off!! Gimmicks when it comes to music promotion!! I've been reading all about this "Band in a Bubble" thing that Dr. Pepper is sponsoring and if you haven't read about it, this band Cartel has agreed to live in a bubble on pier 54 and you can go online or go to the bubble and see how they are doing and see if they made any progress creatively. Again I'm sorry I realize that musicians want to get their music and their name out there but this is a bit cheesy to me. I will give anyone mad props if they go to this bubble thing and do rude things in front of the bubble i.e. urinate in front of the bubble, make out with someone in front of the bubble, flash the bubble etc. The bubble is on 12th and 13th streets in the meatpacking district, I implore you to go and do rude things especially tonight cause that is when the fun starts!! In the book that I just finished "Laurel Canyon", a chapter in the book discusses how in the 60's it was all LSD and pot in Laurel Canyon and in the 70's it became all about the coke. The writer of the book interviewed this guy who was a promotions director at Elekra records in the 70's and he told a story about how when the single "Your so Vain" by Carly Simon came out they sent out coke mirrors to promote the single. My how times have changed!!

3) Elisabeth Hasselbeck......I saw the fight that she and Rosie had on "The View" yesterday. And while I find Rosie to have a bit of a big mouth sometimes and I completely disagree with Elisabeth's politics, Elisabeth cannot debate or hold a proper political conversation without being combative and shrill and she comes across as being not very smart. It's like arguing with a child!! Rosie at least can hold her own! And Rosie was right that anytime they have a political discussion the press always spins it so that it's loudmouth Rosie picking on sweet little Elisabeth. If Babs wants a conservative view point politically she should look for a person, who can doesn't have the debating skills of an 8th grader! I can remember another incident on the show were the women were talking about birth control and abortion and Elisabeth made no sense with her points and when all the women started to challenge her view points and Elisabeth began to cry. The funniest Elisabeth story was when she got all offended because "Law and Order SVU" had a rape/murder victim on an episode that was named Elizabeth Hassenback and she thought the Law and Order producers were taking a swipe at her and she called the producers "socially irresponsible".

4) People who I don't know calling me sweetheart or sweetie, it's creepy especially when it comes from guys trying to pick you up on myspace!

I think I'm done!!

Somethings I just don't get

I'm in a ranting kinda of a mood and here are somethings that have been pissing me off lately:

1) Corporate guys over the age of 35 using slang like "it's so gansta" to describe a project they are working on or just using slang in general day to day conversation. And thinking they are so hip and relevant and "down with it" cause they have ipods with Jenny Lewis, Bright Eyes and Kings of Leon tunes and they go to industry parties at places like The Box and Fat Baby. It's like dude, big freakin' woop your going to an MTV party at Stereo with John Mayer, MTV hasn't been cool since about 1987 and I just don't get the whole John Mayer thing! Your not hip, your just a pathetic douchebag with a small penis on a serious power trip who sold out long ago!

2) Why do magazines like US Weekly put the weight loss secrets of Janet Jackson and Jenny McCarthy?? These women have shitloads of money and they can afford the best dietitians, trainers and they can also afford liposuction! And they can work out five days a week for three hours! I'm lucky if I get to the gym once a week!! And I'm lucky if I get an hour in on the treadmill!!

3) Last night before I went out I had the TV on for background noise and it was on the E! Channel. And the new reality show they have on E! is about a tanning salon in Hollywood that all the celebs go to I really started to watch the show when a woman came in with her daughter who looked to be about seven and this woman wanted to her daughter not to look pale for her school picture. So the guy behind the desk sold the woman the same package that Lindsay Lohan gets which is lying in a tanning bed and then getting the spray on tan. What is wrong with this woman!! Why does she want her daughter to be tan for her school picture!? Does she know that a tanning bed can ruin her daughter's skin and make her poor daughter look like an old worn handbag by the time she is fifteen!! The whole tanning salon thing isn't for me, I kinda like my pale skin and those tanning beds are sooo not good for you!! I worry for all these young girls who do the tanning bed thing!

4) Shows like "The Insider" and "ET" let's see how low we can go all in the name of ratings!! I can remember seeing a clip on "The Soup" from "The Insider" of Lindsay Lohan's mother going with a camera crew to see Lindsay in rehab. Shouldn't someone have said to this woman this is very wrong??? And then when I was flipping channels last night I see they covering the romance of Amy Fisher and Joey Buttafucco, it's just really bad and sad...but what makes it even more sadder is that I actually watched the Amy Fisher/Joey Buttafucco story! Pat O' Brien kinda falls under the category of corporate douchebags who think they are so hip.

5) Brings me back to Lindsay Lohan and her mother. I honestly feel bad for the girl it seems like she doesn't have any stable family support around and anyone that can say to her you know you should not be going out so much and you should be concentrating on getting some good parts. Martha Stewart tried! But from all that I have read about her mother it seems as if her mother is an enabler of her bad behavior! Honestly her mother should stop trying to become a the white Oprah and concentrate on trying steer her daughter in the right direction.

6) MTV it just hasn't been cool since about 1987! I can totally understand why Pearl Jam refuses to make videos.

7) Time Warner Cable you piss me off to no end! I don't get half the channels that I'm supposed to get and their digital phone service sucks!

Las Vegas

This past weekend I went to Las Vegas with a group of friends for my one friend's bachelorette party. We were treated as if we were the Beatles and we partied like 'em too!! It was my first time in Vegas and I had a blast!! We stayed at the Wynn Hotel and we flew in saturday and when we got to the hotel we hung out by the pool and had Miami Vices which are a combo of strawberry daiquiri and pina calida, they were very yummy!! After the pool my friend Denise and I did a little shopping and played the slots, those one armed bandits got a hold of me!! The most I won was $16. That night we went to dinner at the SW Steakhouse, then we went to Jet night club in the Mirage and from Jet we went to Tao at the Venetian. We left Tao at about 4 in the morning and once back at the hotel I stayed on the casino floor and played the slots, I put more money into the slots then I won!! After I won $40 I went back up to my hotel room and the sun was coming up, it was 7am. I got about three hours sleep when I woke up Denise and I got some last minute time at the pool and then I came in and played the slots yet again!! After that I went up to my room and took a shower and got packed up and we left at 1:30pm. I can't think of a better weekend then spending it with my best homies in Las Vegas!!

I will have pictures up soon!!

While I was in Vegas I read a very good book by Michael Walker called "Laurel Canyon The Inside story of Rock and Roll's Legendary Neighborhood". The book as the title suggests is an inside look at LA's Laurel Canyon neighborhood and the contribution those who lived in the neighborhood made (i.e. The Byrds, Frank Zappa, Joni Mitchell etc) on music and culture in the 60's and 70's. Frank Zappa's widow is interviewed along with Chris Hillman of the Byrds, Michael and Pamela Des Bares are also interviewed. If you are a big music, pop culture and history person much in the way that I'am, I highly recommend this book to you. It's a very interesting look at music history and pop culture.

Just a thought......

For all who have worked in the corporate world.....have you ever noticed that certain people some in charge act in the same way that we tell our kids never to act.....and these are the people who are charge!!

It's like that line from the song "Working class Hero" by John Lennon....."First you must learn how to smile when you kill......if you want to be like the folks on the hill"

Off to Vegas for the weekend.

Guilty pleasure shows and Uncle Pumpkin

As I've been saying I have what I call my three guilty pleasure shows and they are "America's Next Top Model", "The Girls Next Door" and "American Idol".

Last night was the season finale of "America's Next Top Model" and if you consider ANTM a guilty pleasure show as well and haven't seen last night's episode as of yet....just warning you spoliers ahead.

I can't believe that Jasleen won!! I so wanted Natasha to win!! Natasha reminded me of Angelina Jolie in looks and she had a great personality really sweet, positive and very humble!! A true under dog!! Jasleen totally looked like an emaciated drag queen to me and she totally annoyed me with her cockiness and the way that she spoke!! And she really showed that she was an uber beeyoch by her attitude towards Natasha. Well maybe really being in the fashion industry for a while will knock Jasleen down a few pegs and make her a little more humble!!

Next tuesday night 5/22 my friend Dan's band Uncle Pumpkin is playing the Red Lion on Bleecker street at 10pm. Uncle Pumpkin is a really cool jazzy jam band that has their own unique sound, these guys are some seriously talented dudes and they are so worth seeing live!! The Red Lion is located at 151 Bleecker Street b/w Thompson and LaGuardia.

Jerry Falwell

Yesterday Rev. Jerry Falwell passed away, I can't say that I'm too upset about this one. The man was a racist and a homophone and spewed his hate all in the name of Jesus! I understand that one group of people may not like another group of people for what ever their own twisted reasons are, but when you start bringing God and Jesus into your hate and start saying stuff like "AIDS is the wrath of a just God against the homosexuals" and that 9/11 was the fault of the gays, the feminists and the abortion doctors and have noted segregationist politicians on your on religious radio show, there is something that is very unchristian in all of that.

He was part of what I like to call the American Taliban, he is basically the American version of someone like Mullah Omar. Falwell was pretty powerful in the Republican party, he was the one who started The Moral Majority and pretty much made the 2004 presidential election all about boys kissing.

I consider myself a Christian woman and it makes me sick to my stomach when I hear all the spew, hate and ass backwards thinking coming from people like Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and even our own president all in the name of Jesus!! What is sad is this is who the media does stories about, so it makes it seem to everyone that all Christians are homophobic and racist right wingers, when that isn't the case at all.

If any of these people cared to read the real teachings of Jesus, they would know that he preached love, tolerance and peace!

And if Jerry Falwell didn't get turned away at the pearly gates I have the feeling he is going to be in for a real shock when he gets to heaven and finds; Gays, Blacks, Women, Asians and Latinos!!

The Sopranos and New Music tuesday

Okay if you didn't see this past weeks episode of the Sopranos stop reading right now cause there are spoilers ahead!!

All I can say is wow!!

That storyline with Christopher totally threw me for a loop, I thought for sure it was going to be the other way around!! I thought Christopher would be the one to take Tony out in the end or he would wind up in the witness protection program. And the storyline with AJ I think AJ is like his father he is repulsed by the actions of those around him but yet likes the brotherhood and the friendship. I think he'll wind up getting out of that "life". That sex scene in Vegas was one of the grossest IMHO!! I think it's so cool that this season that they keep using "Comfortably Numb", last episode Tony was singing it as he was walking to the kitchen and in this past episode the Roger Waters/Van Morrison version was playing as Tony and Christopher was in the car. What I thought was very funny was that Christopher asked Tony if he had "The Departed" soundtrack, a film about the Irish Mob!! Maybe Tony feels like the main character Pink from "The Wall", in that he feels so dragged down by what he does and wants to get out of....could that be a bit of foreshadowing????? Is that why he screamed "I GET IT" when he was in the desert???? Or could that mean that he is only going to get more viscous and crueler?? What seriously would be trippy is if Tony had some kind of dream squence with the peice of music "The Trial" from "The Wall". Something tells me to watch Silvio in the next few episodes, he has been lying low for a while I think he is up to something.

Okay if you stopped reading you can start up again.

It's time for new music tuesday!!

I've discovered this amazing new singer songwriter by the name of Ethan Gold, he not only is a singer songwriter extraordinaire he is also a producer and arranger he produced and arranged my favorite album this year, Elvis Perkins' "Ash Wednesday". Ethan's music is very beautiful and melodic and has a almost Radiohead/Beatlesque unique type of sound. The tune "Our Love is Beautiful" reminds me kinda of a White Album/Abbey Road era Sir Macca/George Harrison ballad. Below is Ethan's myspace page so you can hear his music for yourselves. I'm still hoping that at some point I can get Mr. Perkins to sit down with me to discuss his music and I'm hoping that Ethan will be gracious enough to do the same and discuss his music and what it's like to produce and arrange other music at some point.

Brand Upon the Brain

Last night I had a silent movie experience complete with a full orchestra and foley artists. I went to see a film called "Brand Upon the Brain" at the movie theater at 12th Street and Second Avenue which was an old Yiddish theater back in the 20's, if you have ever been to see a film in the main auditorium there you know it's still the old theater motif and that is were the film last night was screened. The film itself "Brand Upon the Brain" is a movie that was actually made last year by a Canadian film maker by the name of Guy Maddin. It's about this family that owns this island and on it they run an orphanage and the father is a mad scientist who harvests nectar from the orphans for youth serum. The music was fantastic, very 1920's and one of the most interesting things about the music was at one point in the film the character "Sis" who is a female character, sings a solo which was sung by a male soprano with the orchestra. It was very good and a really cool experience, anyway it's been running at the theater at 12th and second for at least a week, tonight is the last night, various New York celebs, i.e. Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, Crispin Glover and Isabella Rosalini etc. have been providing narration for the film. Laurie Anderson provided the narration last night, the later show had Lou Reed provide the narration, I saw him coming out of the theater as I was leaving, I know he and Laurie Anderson are partners. I have to say for all the drugs the man did back in the day, he looks really good these days, I'm a jaded New Yorker and I can care less about seeing celebs but when it's someone who means something to me i.e. Lou Reed, it's very exciting!!

The film is part of David Bowie's Highline festival that is going on. I love being a part of these festivals!!

Friday night I laid low and watched "Beer League" with Artie Lange from the Howard Stern show. A lot of really good people like Tina Fey and Joey G (aka Vito from the Sopranos) have cameos. Artie Lange plays an unemployed 35 year old New Jersey man who still lives with his mother and who lives to drink and smoke and play softball for his favorite bar, Ralph Maccio plays his best friend who is about to marry his baby momma and is equally as obsessed with this softball league as Artie is. The movie was really raunchy but very funny!! All of us who grew up either on Long Island or New Jersey totally know people who are just like the characters in "Beer League"!! And I will admit that after watching this film I now kinda have a crush on Artie Lange, there is something very sexy about a man with a really good sense of humor!!

Saturday night after "Brand Upon the Brain", cause I'm a History Channel geek I came home and turned on the History Channel and the show that was airing was a show called "The 50 States", the show does a profile on all the states and what makes them so unique. I tuned in to see the profile on Alaska and after seeing the Alaska profile I now want to go to Alaska on vacation. They showed the various cities in Alaska i.e. Juneau, Anchorage, Fairbanks, Sward and some of the towns on the Aleutian Islands and it just made me want to go because it looked so untouched, beautiful and so pristine.

Sopranos wrap up tomorrow.

Pink Floyd reunite for Syd...well almost!

Pink Floyd is one of my all time favorite bands, both Roger Waters and Syd Barrett are musical heroes of mine. Last night there was a tribute show to Syd Barrett (who died last summer) in London, Chrissie Hynde, Robyn Hitchcock, Damon Alburn, Martha Wainright and John Paul Jones all took part along with Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright. Apparently Roger Waters did a solo thing and then Gilmour, Mason and Wright went on later and did their thing. I would have given my left teet to have seen this show, what an amazing line up!! And it just goes to show you how wide reaching Syd's influence was and how brilliant he was!! I only hope that this show was taped and will be released on DVD sometime soon or on Fuse or something or they need to do a New York tribute to Syd, Roger is living in NYC know so he should totally do one!!

I was just thinking that what would be really cool would be if we got a tribute show to Syd together and did it at Arlene's and Rog some how found out about it and made an appearance. A few years ago I used to work at this restaurant on LI and my manager there who was a few years older then me and went to high school a few towns over from where I grew up, put on a production of "The Wall" with some friends and one of the friends got a letter in the mail with a detailed critique of the production that only someone who saw it could have written and it was signed by Roger Waters. So if old Rog was going to see a production of "The Wall" at Massapequa High School, I think he would come to the Syd Tribute at Arlene's!

Floyd play at Barrett tribute gig
By Ian Youngs Entertainment reporter, BBC News

Wright (left), Mason (second right) and Gilmour (right) played togetherPink Floyd's stars have performed at a concert in honour of their ex-bandmate Syd Barrett, who died last year - but stopped short of a full reunion.
Roger Waters and David Gilmour, who famously fell out more than 25 years ago, appeared separately at the tribute gig at London's Barbican Centre.
Gilmour was joined by original drummer Nick Mason and keyboard player Rick Wright, while Waters played solo.
Damon Albarn, Chrissie Hynde and Robyn Hitchcock also performed Barrett songs.
The guitarist was the band's first creative force and an influential songwriter, writing their early favourites.

Gilmour, Mason and Wright performed Arnold Layne, the group's first hit and one of Barrett's best-known works.
They then took part in a finale performance of Bike, from the band's debut album, featuring all the night's performers - except Waters.
Waters, a former schoolfriend of Barrett with whom he formed the band in 1965, played his own song Flickering Flame before the interval.
The musician, who is playing at Earls Court on Friday and Saturday, said he found smaller shows "more frightening" because he had a "sense of shame" - which Barrett did not suffer from.
Creative risks
"Before the illness, he kinda lived his life like he walked," the star told the crowd. "I think it's because of his lack of a sense of shame that he was able to take all the creative risks he did."
The "illness" was a mental deterioration blamed on heavy drug use, which led to Barrett leaving the band in 1968 and living most of the rest of his life as a recluse.
"Without Syd, I don't know what I'd be doing - I'd probably be a property developer or something," Waters added.

The show included snippets of films from Pink Floyd's early daysThe Pink Floyd band members had not been announced on the line-up and received an ecstatic welcome from the devoted crowd.
When Gilmour, Mason and Wright appeared at the show's climax, some fans shouted "where's Roger?" and "Pink Floyd" - but those hoping for the classic line-up were disappointed.
The quartet have only buried their differences and performed together once since 1981 - after being on the receiving end of Bob Geldof's famously forceful powers of persuasion for Live 8 in 2005.
But the night was intended to be about Barrett rather than Gilmour and Waters.
Nephew's thanks
Damon Albarn performed a song from the guitarist's solo album Opel - a list of spoken words that the Blur and Gorillaz frontman described as "early rap".
Albarn also persuaded Barrett's nephew Ian to speak on stage. Referring to his uncle's real name Roger, he said: "I'm sure Rog is up there somewhere.
"Just thanks - I've got so much to thank him for."
Martha Wainwright, Kate McGarrigle and her niece Lily Lanken gave one of the evening's most touching performances, playing See Emily Play, which reached number six in the UK 1967.
Syd's musical vision was a one-off that defined the mood and sound of psychedelic London
Joe BoydPink Floyd producerThursday's line-up also included Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones plus Kevin Ayers, whose band Soft Machine often performed with Pink Floyd in the 1960s.
Chrissie Hynde played two songs from Barrett's The Madcap Laughs album, while The Incredible String Band's Mike Heron, Captain Sensible and Oasis bassist Andy Bell also appeared.
The performers played in front of psychedelic visuals put together by the people who created Pink Floyd's legendary light shows on swinging London's underground scene.
The concert was curated by Pink Floyd collaborator Nick Laird-Clowes and Joe Boyd, who produced the band's early records.
'Important' songwriter
Listening to Barrett's solo albums was a reminder of "what a great songwriter he was and how important he was to British culture", Boyd said.
"Syd's musical vision was a one-off that defined the mood and sound of psychedelic London 1966-67," he told the BBC News website.
"His legacy is more abstract, since the biggest Floyd albums don't include his songs. But his influence is felt not only in everything the Floyd ever did, but also via very British artists as diverse as Bowie to Cocker and so many more."
Barrett died in July at the age of 60 from complications arising from diabetes.

The Cannon Logic and things that are funny

This friday 5/11, there is a very cool band out of Philly called the Cannon Logic playing Arlene's Grocery at 9pm. The Cannon Logic's sound is like that of the Beatles, Radiohead, Blur and the Beach Boys all rolled into one. They have been working on new tracks some of which are up on their myspace page, which is linked below and I'm being told they will debut these tracks at this friday's gig.

I know I keep saying that I will not mention her in this blog again, but I saw this online on one of the other blogs that I read and I spit my tea out all over my computer screen, cause I was laughing. Some friend of Paris Hilton's has started a petition to try and get the Governator Ahu-nald to pardon Paris, the paragraph listed below is the opening paragraph, I shit you not!
Paris Whitney Hilton is an American celebrity and socialite. She is an
heiress to a share of the Hilton Hotel fortune, as well as to the real
estate
fortune of her father Richard Hilton. She provides hope for young
people all
over the U.S. and the world. She provides beauty and excitement
to (most of) our
otherwise mundane lives

Is the hope she provides to the young en's, all over the world.....if you don't have a known last name, you can become famous by having a sex tape, acting like an idiot cause you think it's cute, and doing absolutely nothing and when you do, do something (i.e. acting and singing) prove to the world that you can't really do that well!! And if you do have a known last name.....do all four of those things, cause you'll become doubly famous!! Yeah she is a great role model for the young en's all over the world, especially all those young girls!! She provides beauty??!! The girl to me looks like an ostrich dressed as a hooker!! She is a sad symbol of America!!

No more Paris, I promise!! I don't want to feed into this story any more so and prolong her time in the public eye. But I did think that paragraph was pretty funny!

The Sopranos

Last night I finally watched this past weeks episode of "the Sopranos". If I'm not mistaken it's the fifth episode and there are four more left in the final season. If you haven't seen this week's episode as of yet...stop reading right now.

Paulie works out a deal with Christopher to set his father in law Al up with all the stolen power tools that Paulie gets from the Cubans. When Paulie's nephew "Little Paulie" who has the same grey hair streak as his uncle, comes to get the tools Christopher gets pissed and says something to Paulie, Paulie reminds him who negotiated this deal and starts to question why Christopher doesn't drink and hang around the Bing anymore, this pisses Christopher off even further. Christopher goes to Tony to tell him that Paulie has been busting his chops and "Little Paulie" has been taking what is his. Tony tells Christopher he can't do anything about it and that makes Christopher pissed at Tony. Christopher and his wife have a backyard BBQ and Tony tells Christopher that he believes alcoholism isn't a disease and this makes Christopher even more pissed at Tony.

Christopher goes to an AA meeting and complains about Tony and the rest of the guys to his sponsor, he tells his sponsor that Tony is an enabler. "Little Paulie" and his friend shake down Christopher's father in law again, this time Christopher becomes so pissed that he storms into "Little Paulie's" apartment and throws him out the window. "Little Paulie" survives the fall but is seriously injured. After that a pissed off Paulie does donuts on Christopher's front lawn scaring his wife and baby. Christopher finally swallows his pride and goes to the Bing to apologize to Paulie, Paulie orders him a club soda and but Christopher says he'll have what Paulie is having, he then proceeds to get drunk and talk about how much he loves his daughter and Paulie keeps making jokes about how his daughter wants to be put up for adoption and how she'll be working at the Bing in a twenty years, everyone is laughing but Christopher, Tony tells Christopher that they are just joking with him. Christopher then goes to his screenwriter friend's apartment and when his screenwriter friend says that he is writing a script for "Law and Order" Christopher tells his friend that he has real life stories that his friend could use, when his friend reminds him that he is drunk and that he is going to call his wife Christopher gets mad and keeps repeating that he has stories to tell, when his friend keeps telling him that he is going to call his wife to take him home Christopher shoots his friend right between the eyes.

Meanwhile AJ is so distraught over his break up with Blanca that he mopes around the house and quits his job at the pizza place. He worries his sister Meadow when he speaks of suicide. Carm gets a recommendation from his doctor, AJ goes to see the shrink and tells him that he thinks Blanca broke up with him because she came from a poor background and AJ is from a wealthy background and that she was scared. The Doctor prescribes Lexipro for AJ. Carm tells Tony to try and talk to AJ, Tony tells AJ that Patsy Paraisi's son's frat is having a party at the Bing on friday and AJ has to go. Patsy Parasi's son is a campus bookie and AJ goes to the party at the Bing and winds up having a good time, so much so that he goes to another frat party with Patsy's son and his friends, when the group runs into a kid that owes Patsy's son money, the kid is threatened with this is Tony Soprano's son. The group runs into the kid again at another party and they take him to the woods to torture him, AJ finds that he likes doing what his father does.

I totally called it that, this break up would make AJ want to join "the family business"!! I think that the combo of the lexipro, the drinking and the violent life are make AJ either act out and do something that is going to get him in trouble i.e get into a car accident while drunk and kill a friend or kill himself some how.

I think in the end Christopher is going to go to the feds, because he was so willing to tell his friend his mafia stories and he was so pissed at Tony and Paulie, he also kept mentioning Sammy The Bull to his friend, so something tells me that Christopher is going to wind up in the Witness protection program in the end, cause he is going to turn on Tony. But then again it could be that Christopher whacks Paulie and Tony and in the end becomes head of the family.

Paulie is going to get it either from Christopher or Tony. I read that the actor who plays Paulie, Tony Siciro (who was once a hood himself in the 60's and 70's) has it so that his character Paulie is never a rat.

Okay you can go back to reading.

Well the Craig's list personals thing seems to be going well I've gotten a good response. The only thing that bugs me is people who respond to your add that think they are being funny. I put in my add that I was kind and intelligent and I was looking for a guy who was the same and last night I got a response from someone who wrote, "you look nothing like your pictures......and please stop saying your kind and intelligent", I wrote back WTF!? Do I know you?? I haven't heard back from this person, but I really hate people who think they are so clever and funny by cutting down another person all in an effort to make themselves look good!!

From here it's onto phone conversations with the guys I really hit it off with!!

Uggh I'm in allergy hay fever hell right now!!

I feel so dirrrrty

Damn you Time Warner Cable!! Again I couldn't watch my Sopranos last night!! I was flipping the channels and I came across VH-1's sunday night line up of reality shows, it starts with "Celebrity Fit Club"(I've seen this show in past seasons and I don't get the appeal of Dlisters trying to loose weight and that dude Harvey seriously scares me) and ends with "Flavor of Love Girls Charm School", I wound up watching "Charm School", cause I couldn't watch my Sopranos yet again for another week!

For all of you who haven't read about "Charm School" the premise of "Charm School" is, the comedian Mo'nique tries to make these women who appeared on "Flavor of Love" proper ladies. The women that went on both seasons of FOL seriously scare me, either these people are so desperate for their 15 minutes that they are willing to make fools out of themselves or this is them which is really scary, either way I fear for human kind!! But I watched the entire episode last night, I couldn't turn myself away from it!! Afterwards I felt so seriously dirty, it wasn't like guilty pleasure tv like "American Idol" or "America's Next Top Model" or "The Girls Next Door", it was bad train wreck TV, the kind that you just can't turn away from and feel really dirty and guilty after you watched an episode!! I honestly think that Flavor Flav, Hulk Hogan, New York, Pumpkin and Mo'nique are personally making sure my HBO doesn't work on sunday nights!!

VH-1's programming has been pretty bad as of late!! They used to be so good and have good music based programing, now it's shows like "Charm School", "Hogan Knows Best", "Flavor of Love", "I Love New York" and "Celebrity Fit Club" and top 24 countdowns of things celebs did or said. Their reality shows are like something out of a bad SNL skit, they are so exploitative!! If any VH-1 programming execs are reading this, stick with the music based programming i.e. "Behind the Music", "Legends" "Storytellers" "Classic Albums" etc enough with the reality shows!! I will admit that I do like the VH-1 docs, I did like the one they did about the drug years, I thought that was very well done!

I know I keep saying that I won't mention her name again in this blog, but Paris Hilton is going to be spending 45 days in jail, because she violated her parole and drove recklessly when her license was suspended!!! I had to laugh because on the E! channel last night they interviewed her lawyer and he was saying how this was a conspiracy and because she is who she is they are giving her this jail sentence. I read an interview with Paris in the paper and she was saying that the cops are always out to get her and they hit on her all the time, laughed at that one too! I just read a quote from her mother where she was saying this jail sentence is a waste of tax payer money and Paris doesn't deserve this and she and her husband where trying to get Ahu-nald to appeal the sentence. Anyone who violates parole gets sent to jail no matter who they are and what if she killed someone while driving drunk or recklessly, would she say it was nothing or that the cops where after her??!! . Does she think because of who she is, she is that above the law!!?? I honestly hope that she doesn't get any type of special treatment and only does two days or a few hours in a "country club" lock down, she should have to serve the full sentence, it reminds me of when Leona Helmsley went to jail. My favorite part of all this is when she tried to blame her PR person Eliot Mintz by saying he told her she could drive, Eliot Mintz used to be John and Yoko's PR person and he had a really cool show on the radio back in the day called "The Lost Lennon Tapes", the Hilton family must have backed the Brinks Truck up to Mintz's house for him to work with Paris, how do you go from working with John and Yoko to Paris Hilton??!! Hopefully this will make her finally realize that she is a elitist little twat who is emotionally 13 and make her change her ways and make her go away for good or maybe she'll get all gansta and hardcore. Either way I'm sure one of the networks will score a big interview with her once she gets out. The sad part about it is she is a symbol of America, we pretty much have the male Paris Hilton in the white house right now! It's also sad that her jail sentence makes bigger news then what is going on in Iraq right now......ah America!!

Okay since my love life is so pathetic I decided to do something I hate and that was place an ad on the Craig's List personals. I've never had luck with online dating, I go on a few dates and I get discouraged and cause I still believe I'm not going to meet Mr. Right on line (which I still do believe), this time I'm really going to give it a chance. But what amazes me is on Craig's list the responses you get from people who didn't read your ad, very seriously I got a response from a guy who was looking for a female to watch him and his wife have sex while she masturbated....how very "Sex In the City"!!! I was almost tempted to respond.....just kidding!!

Sopranos wrap up tomorrow.

Fast Food Nation

Last night I stayed in and I watched "Fast Food Nation" with Greg Kinnear and Wilmer Valdarama.

The film centers on a slaughter house in a small Colorado town that provides the meat for a national fast food chain. All the characters are intertwined somehow and have something to do with the slaughter house or the fast food company Valdarama, plays an illegal Mexican immigrant who comes to Colorado with his wife and sister in law and winds up getting a job at the slaughter house along with his sister in law. Kinnear, plays a marketing executive who works for the fast food company that this slaughter house supplies with meat and Ashlee Johnson plays a teenage girl who works for the fast food company in question in the same town as this slaughter house. Many big names like Ethan Hawke, Bruce Willis, Patricia Arquette, Kris Kristopherson and Avril Levigne have small parts in this film.

The film really questions what is the American Dream and do we go about getting it by hurting our fellow humans emotionally and physically and it also brings up the responsibility of big corporations, do they really care for the people or do they not care as long as they are making money and turing out product. It was very very well done and I'm not a big Wilmer Valdarama fan but I thought he was really excellent in his role and I always like Greg Kinnear, he is really good at playing the smarmy guy who learns a lesson in the end. The two women who played the wife and sister in law of Wilmer Valdarama's character were really excellent as well, I actually saw the girl who played the wife today at the movie theater up the street from me! Bruce Willis has a cameo playing the CEO of the slaughter house, he plays a really good smarmy asshole!! Ethan Hawke, plays the activist uncle of Amber (Ashlee Johnson) the young girl who works at the fast food place, Patricia Arquette plays Amber's trashy mother. Kris Kristopherson plays an old rancher whose business is slowly being taken away by large corporations and Avril Lavigne plays a student activist at the local college.

I really felt great sympathy for Wilmer Valdarama's character along with the characters of his wife and sister in law, you really see what they have to go through to live and to work in the US and to achieve what they see as "the American Dream". I also felt a bit of sympathy for Greg Kinnear's character, he knows what all that is going in this slaughter house is wrong morally and unsafe and he wants to say something to his company, but still he needs his job, I won't give away what happens!!

This movie is worth seeing!! One thing I will tell all of you is that the scene at the end will make you swear off eating meat all together!!

The film I saw tonight at Tribecca was a documentary called "Taxi to the Dark Side", it was about torture in US Military prisons like Abu Grab and Bagara in Afghanistan. Part of the film told the story of a 22 year old Afghan man who was a taxi driver who happen to pick up these three men who may or may not have been planning a mortar attack. All the men including the taxi driver were arrested and sent to Bagara Prison. The taxi driver who was innocent was beaten and tortured by US MP's at the prison till he died. It was really awful and pretty brutal to hear the accounts from the soldiers themselves and see the pictures and the video tape. The solders claim that they were following orders from the higher ups. The film examined how after 9/11 Cheney, Bush and Donald Rumsfeild gave the orders not to follow the Geneva accords and to use blunt trauma force and to basically torture these prisoners and take away their rights of habus corpus ( the right to a fair trail and basically know why you are in jail in the first place) and they pretty pardoned themselves from any charges that would be brought up against them, they pretty much set it so that the solders who were following orders would be the ones charged. The film also pointed out how less then five percent of prisoners that were in Bagara, Abu Grab and are currently in Guantanamo Bay are involved with Al Quida and or the Taliban. The majority of the prisoners
that were in Bagara, Abu Grab and were are/in Guantanamo Bay were farmers or civilians who were turned in by local tribal leaders in order to get the ransom money that the US gives to people in Afghanistan and Iraq for turning over anyone they believe has something to do with the Taliban or Al Quida. The Taxi Driver was captured by an Afghan war lord who was working with US Forces, but as it turns out he really wasn't he was just giving the US innocent people to make himself look good because he was planning a mortar attack on one of the US bases.
The movie also talks about how when some of these tortures are taking place people are more likely to give up false information because their bodies are so beat from the tortures. The film won best documentary at Tribecca and it's going to be in wide release soon, I would highly recommend seeing it! It's very powerful and if your like me and think Bush should be impeached you will really think so after seeing this film or if you were in the small minority that likes Bush and what he is doing you'll really want him impeached after you see this film!

HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!!

Do people actually read???

I have a page on myspace and I use pretty much to do promotion for friends and their bands but also to promote this blog. And every once in a while I get a message from some creep trying to pick me up and it's me but I really get skived when guys I don't know call me sweetie or sweetheart and make the messages overtly full of cheesy and nasty pick up lines like "OH U ARE SO SEXY", "I WANNA GET TO KNOW U", "UR MY ANGEL". Unless you are sending a text message to someone or are under the age of 18 I question the intelligence of any adult who uses U instead of you in an email message. And it's like I don't know you and I don't want to know you so how do you know I can be your angel??

Yesterday I went to check my myspace message and I got a message from some guy who I would never date in a million years, who I have nothing in common with sends me this message:

Hi Sweetie.. How are you doing?i am new on here and you are the first person i will be sending a messageI lookin at your picture goes a long way in describing the quintisential underlying beauty any man would seek for in a woman ..but all real love relationships begin on a basic foundation of friendship..i would like to know u better and be good friends with u and am sure something deeper will spring from there...my name..XXXX..and i am just as simple as u want...i would like you to write to me and tell me all about urself as i would do too if u so wish.i stay in Sacramento, but out of the states currently in africa visiting my sick mom{hope you are not discouraged} but i will be back in the states as soon as she get better."XXXX_XXXX@yahoo.com" email address you can mail me through..... and if u use the yahoo messenger u could add me(passionaterasheed) so we can have a chat and get to know one another more.. .....Thanks for being patient enough to read ......i'll be expecting ur responce .Hope to talk to you soon!!! Love XXXXX.

Yes I'm so discouraged buddy that you are out of the country and I really want to start up a conversation and relationship with just based on your spelling and the lines that you used in your message to me cause you seem like a really intelligent person!.....honestly WTF!??

I wrote him back, cause I'm like that First off don't call me sweetie cause it's creepy, secondly I don't use myspace to date, thirdly I have a boyfriend, I lied about that, usually a good excuse to get people like that never to write you back . As much as I hate cheesy overtly romantic pick up lines, if Gael Garcia Bernal, Deigo Luna, Jonathan Rhys Myers, the lead singer from the Artic Monkeys, James Franco, Fab from the Strokes, a young Marlon Brando, Anthony Quinn look alike, Toby MacGuire, Pete Townshend or Leonard Cohen wrote me a note like that I would respond favorably and make a joke about them coming on too strong, but I some how think if any one of those men where to hit on me they wouldn't do it like the guy above. Honestly if you wanna date me don't come on strong like that!! Talk to me about something I'm interested in, like music, movies or books or my blog. Do people like the guy above actually get women this way?? I wanna know who the women are that respond!!

But one thing I will say is I give this guy credit for trying.

Angels and Kings

Last night after having a tough day at work I decided that I wanted to go for a quick drink. I wanted to check out this new bar on my block called Angels and Kings which is owned by that guy from Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz and some guy from Gym Class Heroes. Monday night was the grand opening and Ashlee Simpson was there along with Jay-Z and Tommy Hilfiger. I'm not a fan of Fall Out Boy by any means and I hate Pete Wentz I think he is the biggest lame ass poser, but I was curious since I read about this place and it is on my block and I was totally going to blog about it.

I walked in there and the place is nice inside but the people working there were these really snotty hipster types, the kind that I hate, informed me that the bar wasn't opened just yet, it was 7pm, just about all the bars in the East Village are two hours into happy hour by 7pm! I waited outside and called some friends to see who wanted to join me in checking this place out, I walked back in and by this time it was 7:30 and I was informed again that the place wasn't open just yet. So I was like screw this and I went over to good old Hi-Fi on Avenue A and met my friend Kristen. We wound up having a really good time at Hi-Fi and we wound up having a really good conversation about music with the owner of Hi-Fi who was a really cool guy.

Hipsters and the locals aren't going to be the ones flocking to Angels and Kings!! It's gonna be the bridge and tunnelers, the uptown yuppie preps and the tourists. I honestly give that place about six months tops, the novelty of going to the guy from Fall Out Boy's bar is going to wear off quickly on the b&t'ers, the preps and the tourists. If Pete Wentz was smart he would know that the small rock clubs in New York seem to be disappearing and he should have opened a club!!

Has anyone heard the new White Stripes song "Icky Thump"???? I downloaded it the other day it's not bad, it kinda reminds me of a song that the Asbury Dukes or Blue Cheer would do back in the day. Jack is totally going for that Tom Morello from Rage sound on his guitar.

I'm kinda bummed I just read that Mr. Bickley from "Mork and Mindy" and George Utley from "Newhart" aka Tom Poston just passed away!! Very sad I loved both "Mork and Mindy" and "Newhart" when I was a kid. I still love "Newhart" that was a great show, I wish TV Land would bring it back.

I will leave with this today......Corporate people who think they are so cool and hip discribing a marketing plan involving a client and a known band make it sound so un rock and roll!

Sopranos and mysterious islands and rooms in houses!!

Last night I finally saw this past weeks episode of "The Sopranos", for all who didn't see it yet stop reading right now!!

Tony we learn may have a problem with gambling, he is encoring large gambling debts and has to borrow 300k from Hersh to pay off some debts. Hersh begins to ask Tony to repay his loan and Tony starts to complain about Hersh and how he is a typical Jew with money and Hersh starts to complain about Tony. Tony begins to pay off his loan to Hersh little by little and finally one day Tony and Bobby show up to Hersh's house, Hersh thinking they are going to rough him up tells his girlfriend Renate to look herself in the bedroom, Tony shows up to give Hersh the rest of his money and to invite him to the boat show. Hersh refuses and when he goes up to get Renate, he sees that she is sleeping and when he tries to wake her she has died in her sleep.

Carm has sold the spec house she built with her father to her cousin Brian and his wife. One night during a rain storm she calls her father in a panic thinking that the spec house is going to cave in, in the rain because of all the bad lumber they used. Her father tells her not to worry.
She winds up making a lot of money in the closing of the house and Tony tries to get her to bet it in a football game, when she refuses Tony goes nuts and tells her that money from the spec house is really his and he should be able to do what he wants with that money, Carm tells Tony she doesn't want to end up like Ginny Sack living with her daughter after her husband has passed away. Tony tells her the house is going to cave in and kill her cousin's unborn child.
He finally calms down and tells her she can do what ever she wants with the money.

In the meantime, Marie Spatafore comes to Tony and asks him for his help with her son Vito Jr. Ever since it came to light that Vito Sr. was gay and was killed (last season), Vito Jr. has been acting out. He has turned into a goth kid complete with the eye liner, black nail polish and black lipstick, he has been knocking over graves and supposedly killed a neighbors cat and has been acting out in school. Marie asks Tony for 100k so she can move the kids to Maine for a new start, Tony tells Marie that maybe Phil Letardo should talk to the kid since Phil is Marie's cousin and that he would think about lending them the money. Phil talks to the kid but he doesn't listen, then Tony talks to Vito Jr. and pretty much tells him he needs to be the man of the house. After an incident at school where Vito Jr. takes a dump in the school gym showers, Tony tells Marie that he will pay for Vito Jr. to go to a tough love boot camp in Utah. In the middle of the night three guys from the camp come into Vito Jr's bedroom and take him.

And AJ asks Blanca to marry him and tells her that he will be full on manager of the pizza place in no time and then he will have his own restaurants and clubs soon. She is hesitant but accepts. At the Puerto Rican day parade she tells him she doesn't love him and gives the ring back.

The episodes this season leave you with the feeling that someone is either going to get whacked or go to the feds. One thing that bugged me about this past weeks episode was that the beauty of this show is that they don't make things too obvious and last night the sub plot with Tony's gambling addiction made it too obvious. And all the drama with Vito Jr. represents the struggle between Phil and Tony. The scene were Vito Jr. takes a dump in the shower was one of the nastiest scenes on that show that I have ever seen!! I think Phil will get back at Tony in some way for sending Vito Jr. to that tough love camp. AJ I predict will do something drastic after his break-up with Blanca, he will come to the dark side and join the family or he will harm Blanca and her son in some way. And the whole thing with Hesh, I wonder if Tony had something to do with Renate's death???? Very cool cameos by Nancy Sinatra and Southside Johnny! Nancy looks and sounds great.

Okay you can go back to reading the blog now if you looked away.

Yesterday I spoke about all those islands off of Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Bronx and Queens. I was talking to my roommate about them and he is a freelance writer who doubles as a bartender on a party boat and he was saying that one of the islands out by Queens that his boat passes has an old abandoned castle on it. I told him he should take his camera next time to take a picture, we were both saying that how we wanted to rent a boat and explore these islands. That got us on the subject of urban exploring and my roommate at the moment is writing a story for a real estate magazine about demolition in the city, and he was talking to this guy who does demolition and the demolition guy was telling him a story about doing a job in the West Village a few years ago and this guy and his crew were in the basement of this building taking down walls and they found a secret passage way that lead to a room and in this room there were body parts and specimens in jars, along with hack saws and medicine bottles from the civil war era. The demolition guy told my roommate that they had these guys from Peru on the crew who were deeply religious and when they saw this room they ran out of the building and they had to have a shaman come in and bless the building!!

One of the coolest museums in New York is the South Street Seaport Museum, they have a display of artifacts that were dug up in various spots in Manhattan from the 1600's, they only have half of the collection because the collection was stored in the World Trade Center and when the towers fell they were only able to salvage half of the collection. All that stuff is so fascinating to me, cause you never know what secrets the building holds where you live!

My boss got an invite to the Time Magazine 100 most influential people party and I was looking at the list and one of the influential people listed under entertainment was Dane Cook. Now I know this guy is totally popular and people find him funny, but honestly I'm not one of those people who find him funny.
